Possibly the dish has moved slightly, it may need re-aligning.
May be a tree growing in the line of sight from dish to satellite.
Thanks for your quick reply.
I forgot to say my first box's (which was changed a few day ago as the HD gave up) was ok signal wise
An engineer came and changed the box and now this problem .
It starts from cold ok..then gradually(over a time scale of 15-30 mins) the signal go's.
sorry I should have explained more:o0 -

OK, sadly it sounds like you have yet another faulty receiver, ring Sky and explain, they should replace it FOC.0 -
biggest load of tosh i have read on this forum yet,i fit sky boxes, when the box is first installed i do a manual software download using the method he described, after that any future updates for your box will download automatically..the new EPG for example, when its released for your box model and type it will download itself, forcing a download everymonth is pointless and gains nothing, all your doing is redownloading whats allready on your box,if the worst comes to the worst a planner rebuild is the best option, also, sky dont charge 40 quid for this, when you call they go through all these steps with you for free,to avoid sending an engineer out,and finally, you must be sky employee of the decade to have fitted 10 million systems,...which postcode area do you work in,i know guys from most through training courses and the likethe sky box will never download update after the first install, this goes for normal sky, Sky+ and SkyHD
and yes i work for sky, i have installed 10000000s of boxes and had to upgrade the software! sky would like to charge you £40 for this. but just do the steps and you will see the box is more faster.
You will find in most cases the box will fail within 1 month of having it, if it lasts longer then the boxes chances of failing fall, fair enough the box freezes now and then, but it is doing a massive task.
record 2 channels and watch a recording? computers crash now and then, so update them just to help your box on its way to looking after you...0 -

If you're getting the message no sat signal on screen after the picture is breaking up it can something to do with even the dish input cable to the back of the sky box. Try even resetting these - put the box onto standby, remove the dish input 1 and dish input 2 cables (screw on connections to the back of the sky box) leave them both out for 30seconds and then screw both back on but switch the two connections about - switch the box off at the plug leave off again for 30 seconds and then switch it back on. Even try resetting the LNB as sometimes this can help with no sat signal message, go to :
Services
System Set Up (no. 4)
Enter 0 then 1 and then select on the remote control and you'll now be in the installer menu, press select on LNB set up, turn off the power supply and 22khz command and then save new settings and press select. Press select on LNB set up again and press the red button to reset and again save new settings.0 -

Agreed, it will never cost you 40 quid to update the software
