    Hi,
Just having a break from sewing, I bought a king size patchwork bedspread in the sales last week for a double bed, same price. I have cut a strip off length wise and am making cushions out of the spare material. Cheaper than buying new cushions. I have painted picture frames to match the colour scheme.
Looking good, even though I do say so myself.
I'm about to start making some bibs out of some oldish, bit worn in the middle, towels. DD2 is nearly 5mths pregnant, I picked up some ribbon from a charity shop for the edging and ties. works out at 8p per bib. including cost of towel.

Seems like it's been a long day.

WELCOME DRAGON FAIRY and CORNISHPIXIE.:hello: :hello:
TAURUSGB, Hi and thanks for your support.:T
REDRUBY, Please don't worry you only have to look at your thanks button on the other place. ;)

WEE BARGAIN HUNTER, Hi, my OS is making cushions out of feather pillows that have seen better days and bibs from old towels.

CATERINA, I have loads of quince in my garden, do you have anymore recipes, we are not jam eaters.

OLLIEBEAK, Thanks for the link, never knew that thread was there.

ME, Lavender icecream sounds delish, Recipe? please.

Trying to keep on as normal but still upset at the vitriol bandied about, never thought of personal attacks being made some of the posters on ''other thread''

CANDY DD&DDAD,SMOKY,ANNIE S,MARIE&ULICK,PENPIN,JAYWARD,JACKIO, sorry mind gone blank ((((((((((((( hugs to you all )))))))))))))

Just made some lavender icecream using cream that was reduced to 8p for 500ml!

Wow, that sounds different - is it nice?? Doesn't taste too "flowery" if you know what I mean??

I too am very sad at the way the other thread has gone - but those who are really upset, please don't be.
Welcome back to those who haven't been around for a while - you were the whole reason I gatecrashed this thread & just made myself part of it. And also a huge welcome to the newbies too, it's lovely to see you.

    Hi everyone.

I'm feeling very very shaky, having looked at the "other" thread. Actually, I didn't read all of it, as it seemed to be getting nasty, but I did post my thoughts, as per Penny's original request. Am now waiting to get flamed for doing so.

Sorry if this is irrelevant, but it is funny, and I want to share it. Yesterday, Mr LW leapt out of bed at 5:45 and started rushing around like a blue-a*sed fly. When I asked what he was doing, he said "I'll be late for w*rk". Poor love hadn't realised it was Sunday! I was tempted to stay quiet and see how long before he realised, but I relented. It's usually me that doesn't know what day it is!

I did do some OS stuff yesterday - HM rolls, apple pie, and a nut loaf to slice and freeze. It was originally a Linda McCartney recipe, that I've tinkered with.

Joannasmum - I use my normal bread recipe, but take the rolls out before they brown, just as they start to turn golden, and leave them covered with a tea towel - it's keeping in the moisture that makes them soft.

What a relief nipped into Mr A's and tinned toms were 19p, I nearly keeled over in Mr T's yesterday when they were marked at 26p!

Have stripped yesterday's chicken, oo er, and bagged it and squeezed it in the freezer. Will be turning the leftover veg into bubble and squeak cakes in a min, though I have no idea where I'm going to find space for them, might have to serve them with tomorrow's dinner, hope it's something that works with them, don't think they'd be nice with pasta!

Hi to new people and old posters who've reappeared, I was really bothered by the idea that people thought it was cliquey on here, I know it's hard though when people have been chatting for a while and know stuff about each other.

    Trial and error that worked.

Warmed cream 8p! 500ml.... shoved in the lavender heads that I had picked yesterday... as much as I could physically cram in. I used a double pan so the cream didn't stick. A pyrex bowl in a saucepan of simmering water would work.
Kept stirring and "mashing it" for about 2 hours, on a low heat.
    Boy the flavour was strong!!!
Fished out the lavender heads, squeezed the mixture against the side of the strainer and then strained the flavoured/slightly beige looking cream into a large bowl.
Added another 8p 500ml of double cream, plus 500ml of 17p extra thick cream, plus 500ml of greek yoghurt. Mixed all together.
Separately dissolved a packet of gelatine into a small amount of hot water, added some honey (about half a mugful and some caster sugar (similar amount).
    Whisked it up.
Put into tupperware containers to freeze.
Kept going back to taste it... ooh it is absolutely delicious.. I have stirred it several times as it freezes, so that there are no lumps.
Luxury iceream for under a £1.. (about 3 litres).
    I'm chuffed with it.

O Annie please dont get upset, I for one love to read your posts, you are so full of energy and enthusiastic about your music, its lovely to hear someone so happy:j

DragonFairy,Cornish pixie and any Newbies I may have missed
    Hello and welcome

Sooo DragonFairy you are making Twinks Hobnobs, if you havent had any yet you are in for a real treat.
I split my last mixture into 3, and made one lot plain, one lot with sultanas and the last ones with ginger, I read on here that ginger is really nice in them so decided to try it and it was yummmmmy.Who would have thought porridge could taste so good.

redruby how did it go with your friend?

I have read and posted my thoughts on the other thread, but like most of us on here I was dissapointed that some people were so nasty, there really is no need for it, a question was posed and thoughts were asked for, simple I would have thought, so was totally unprepared for the comments that ensued. Some of which shook me a bit, and yes I was a bit upset like a lot of others.
Everyone has their own point of view but there are ways of putting these things across, without causing upset or offence....whether meant or not.

BTW the spag bol from the SC was delish, so a real sucess, half eaten and the other half in the freezer.:D

    Back later
