  • All better now but by the end of Monday we all were poorly - not great in a house with only one bathroom. It seems to be something that's going round. A lot of our school have been off poorly with the same thing.

No, I didn't have to go in to make up the time off on Monday. I did go in on Thursday morning but I get paid for it and it was all admin work so quite an easy morning really. Won't get paid for it until the end of March though.

Had a very productive day today. Got all downstairs clean and tidy, done all the ironing AND putit away, made homemade lentil soup and got bread nearly finished in the breadmaker, emailed a Freecycler to come and take away a juicer, removed my laptop keys and cleaned the dust balls from under them so they actually work properly again, vaccuumed our bedroom, including under the bed and wardrobe (much, much dust, yeuch!), put our brand new mattress on our bed and changed the bedding. Phew!

Tomorrow, I hope to get upstairs shipshape and hopefully put some stuff on ebay. Plus do some planning for work. Can't believe it's the last week before half term. In one way it's flown over and in another way I'm ready for the break.

My £10 scratchcard winnings has gone in the bank and I got a £10 Argos voucher from Valued Opinions today. Have redeemed another £10 voucher from IPSOS today and 1000 points ($50) from Global Test Market. Not bad going!

Not a bad day at all! Far more productive than me.....I have done rather less housework than you

I can honestly say I've never bought anything from Lush. The smell puts me off whenever I walk past. It's lovely, but overpowering, and I just can't face going in. I did read your Lush reviews though Choca, so I might be tempted next time I'm in town.

  • Yay! It's half term. That means we're all off this next week - well except OH, though he will be off some of the time. Plus it means no money to find for dinner money, breakfast club and after school activities - school is an expensive place.

OH is at work this morning. Well, actually he didn't make it back last night. He'll have worked about 45 hours last week - the first full time week since November so it'll be nice to have a bigger pay this week. He's hoping this might be a regular thing and even better, he can do the 45 hours over only 4 days so he gets lots of time at home - the thing he was missing before. Plus we seem to be working opposite days so less childminding money to pay and Tom gets his parents at home most of the time.

Still not really sure how our money situation is but we seem to be managing more or less ok. Luckily we don't have to pay council tax / water rates for this month and next so that accounts for the home insurance I've just paid. Still trying not to buy anything we don't need. Still only spent £1 on clothes this year so far and doing quite well with not buying but we did have to give in and buy a mattress for our bed. And I'm glad we did - it's so comfy!!

Got letters to send today. Hoping to try and get some money from Egg undet Section 75 as our sofa has developed a split and Land of Leather won't do anything about it as they're in administration. Wish me luck!

Other than that, it's cleaning and decluttering again - it's never ending!

Hope you are enjoying half-term so far. Im glad that your DH has been getting some good hours in. I hope that you get the sofa sorted with egg.

Why does cleaning and decluttering never stop?

  • I'm sort of enjoying half term but I'm also annoyed with myself as I have all this extra time and I'm just frittering it away. Idid nothing Saturday and Sunday and although I did manage to clean out the top cupboards in the kitchen (getting rid of half a bin bag of junk and half a bin bag to Freecycle) and did the ironing yesterday I feel as if I should have done so much more. *sigh*

On a more positive note 50p and 25p on scratch cards today and up to £44 on Dooyoo.

DS has an orthodontist appointment this morning so had better get a move on!
