MFD - I honestly don't know if it is or not - I just know we didn't have any problems with it. We actually did the one bottle of expressed a day on the advice of the paediatrician as he encouraged BF'ing but said that if you never give the baby a bottle and needs must for anything the baby won't take it if he's only ever had breast. Don't know if that's true or not - but worked for us.
Sami - ok, here goes. 24yo DS (who with DIL has a 2 year old son - our grandson - who happens to be 10 days older than our 2 year old son as DIL & I were pregnant at same time!), 22yo DD (who has 3 year old son - our grandson), and 2 yo DS, and we're due in August with another hopefully healthy baby. So 3 kids, due with #4, and 2 grandkids. Confused yet? :rotfl:
Christmas is going to be so much fun - it's a blast when we all 3 little boys are here playing together!MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
MFD - if there are specific dummies you want DH to pick up, can you find it online and print off a page that has the name & pic of it for him to take with him? Sounds silly, but honestly that's what I would do. And my DH wouldn't be offended - he'd love it - makes things much easier for him. All of ours used dummies, but once they hit between 12-18 months, we started weaning them off the dummies - or cold turkey in the case of our youngest who started biting them.
yep - this is my way of [STRIKE]controlling[/STRIKE] influencing hubbies choicer.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
ooooooohh! I shall just tut and say to myself silly little first timer:rolleyes:
:rotfl:I know that the dummy incident was just one of many things that contributed to me giving up but in my mind it deff does exist, some kids are not fussy and will drink from anything like moving on to cups with no fuss but others like chris are more stubborn / fussy
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I also think that stubborn / fussy kids are made that way because they are allowed to be that way not born that way

wow thats bonkers (in a good way!) how did your son and daughter take in when you announced you were expecting no.3 (if u don't mind sharing) I think I'd be freaked out if my mum told me she was preg (although she can't be now) but i supose if she was happy I would be too after the shock0

Both DS and DD were thrilled - they thought it was great. Funny enough, it gave me a chance to get to know DIL better as well, since we were pregnant at same time, we could discuss pregnancy stuff. And I think it gives DS a laugh to see his dad chasing after a toddler again. They know we've been trying for #4 so they are happy about that as well. And DH's parents are very supportive about it as well. (My parents think anyone over 35 shouldn't be trying to have babies - but they're control freaks and we don't have anything to do with them anyway, really, so that doesn't matter. They would be properly horrified if they knew we were pregnant again.)MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

r mac which pool option did you go for in the end?
I went with the birth pool in a box option. I got it from boots - was the cheapest I could (when you included the 'extras') and as I ordered through boots I managed to get £29 worth of points at the same time which I can use for baby toiletries/nappies, so I was very pleased with my research efforts. :T It's arriving on Friday. :j renting one locally was going to cost about £150 or more
I promise to report back on how it 'performs'r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
MFD - it's always funny to look back at things we say when we're younger when we say "oh i'll never do this....or that...." I still remember a girl in a work training class that was going on and on about terrible parents who let their toddlers watch telly and videos and how they were ruining their children - how her kids would always have only educational stuff and eat all natural foods and blah blah blah. God wouldn't I love to peek into her home now that she's older. She didn't have kids yet then. Us mums all told her - "no videos or telly - then don't ever plan on having a moment to sit down for a cuppa, or a quick shower, or pretty much anything EVER!"MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

he he, I agree to a point, I would never allow chris to dictate how I cut food or anything silly and if I cook him something he likes but refuses he doesn't get something else - my mum thinks I'm too harsh but she did the same with me  I tell him its not a restaurant. his bottle is the only thing chris is fussy about so it doesn't worry me, I'm happy to let him have it for now0 -
Sami whilst my mum stopped at 2 my dad presented me with a younger brother about 5 years ago now...
So he'll be a 5/6 year old uncle...
I wasn't chuffed about it to be honest but it's dads life and his choice how he wants to lead itAs it happens my brother is a little rascal but love him to bits
