I've told DH during pregnancy that I was feeling cranky and just needed a good argument - so he would walk around the living room, laugh, and say "um, okay - this picture - it's crooked - how can we live here like this?" or "can you believe the state of this carpet?" ... followed by "how's that - can you get a good argument out of that?" It was so funny, I couldn't help but laugh. He's very understanding of just needing a good cry or cuddle, thank goodness.
My daughter (she's 22) was supposed to be watching DS (2yrs) this morning while we sorted some stuff in the other room - and she spaced and wasn't watching him closely - and he managed to pull the tree over! Luckily, DS wasn't hurt although he was scared and cried. But an ornament I've had since I was 5 (handmade from my now-deceased grandmother) was broken. I was so upset I yelled at her then started crying. Between freaking out that DS could have been hurt, and the breaking ornament, I was not in good shape. Now I'm still a little stressed and nauseated. Argh! I felt bad afterwards yelling at her, but at 22 I should be able to rely on her being attentive - she does have her own toddler (who was in nursery at the time) so it's not like she's new at watching little ones. *breathe* *breathe* ok, calming now....
I just got DS down for his nap, and a sales marketer called and it woke DS up. So I'm sitting very quietly hoping he'll nod back off again. He needs longer than a 20 minute nap to get through the day.
I breastfed our other babies and plan on breastfeeding this one too. I had to stop earlier than planned with DS2 as I ended up in hospital a couple times with gallbladder problems, then had gallbladder removed but had complications with kept me in hospital for longer than planned and unable to pump due to meds.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
MFD: just a lil note, you won't be needing dumbies if b/f as they can cause nip confusion.
I am still angry that when I brought chris home he was quiet so I went to make myself look normal-ish in my own bathroom and returned to find my mum had given him one but I didn't do anything coz I was tired n weak etc it drives me mad and will NOT be happening this time!0 -
MFD - if there are specific dummies you want DH to pick up, can you find it online and print off a page that has the name & pic of it for him to take with him? Sounds silly, but honestly that's what I would do. And my DH wouldn't be offended - he'd love it - makes things much easier for him. All of ours used dummies, but once they hit between 12-18 months, we started weaning them off the dummies - or cold turkey in the case of our youngest who started biting them.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

It's funny - we heard so much about nipple confusion - but ours had breast feeding, dummies, and were fed expressed from a bottle once a day by DH (so I could get a little extra rest) and never had a problem. I know some babies do have problems with it, maybe we were just lucky.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Another BF question.
My Mum was a BF counsellor, and she has given me some great books which have really helped. They are all from the late 80's though. Nothing important has changed in that time has it?Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Hi ladies, couldn't resist popping in!
I wish i'd had some bottles and formula on standby when i was struggling with bfeeding, i remember it was a sunday evening with shops shut when i had major problems (elliot managed to bite me somehow and i bled everywhere) and broke down...OH shouted at me cuz elliot needed feeding but id had enough by then (in pain etc ) and i had to try to blank it out and feed him.
i also had to go out and buy some dummies as hes very sucky, and loves cuddling up on me and suck (id have had him permanently attatched to my boob if id managed to keep bfing lol). theyre a god send at times!
take care,

I hate to say it (and I just KNOW I will be proven wrong with bubba) but I think that nipple confusion is a myth / excuse

ooooooohh! I shall just tut and say to myself silly little first timer:rolleyes:
:rotfl:I know that the dummy incident was just one of many things that contributed to me giving up but in my mind it deff does exist, some kids are not fussy and will drink from anything like moving on to cups with no fuss but others like chris are more stubborn / fussy0
