Skinty I couldn't find anything about it being or not being allowed but did come across this independent midwife that does it so that may be an option if your ok with also having HB? I'm not sure where you are in the uk but even if they not close maybe you could contact her to ask about her exp of lotus. HTH

I read lots of stuff most of which as suddenly disappeared from my brain right now :rolleyes: But I think it makes sense that once the cord stops it because the placenta has given baby everything it needs and stopping that means bub won't receive everything its ment to IYKWIM
I also think it will help with my skin to skin time as bubs won't be able to be taken off and weighed etc too soon as I didn't like that bit with Chris, I feel like that was why I didn't bond with him straight away (I reckon I had PND but I lied about it whenever MW or HV asked related Qu's - proof I'm clearly mad :rolleyes: )

Thats what the last book I read said.

I'm trying to research pain relief, and found lots of studies that say that the use of strong drugs during labour increase the chance of the baby going on to abuse drugs. Scary! Still not found anything useful to help me decide what to do - looks like a completely pain-relief free birth might be what I have to go for :eek:

Feelie - my friend has had three births with no drugs at all and she said it wasn;t as bad as people make out.

Personally, I will accept gas and air (she had that) but nothing else, as the drugs make the baby sleepy and it can be in their system for a few days after the birth which apparently can affect bonding for some people.

i want to be as natural as possible.

I thought I'd just have gas & air, but reading a few personal accounts, it seems that that makes people feel drunk - not something I really want to experience. No idea who to talk to about this - is it really something the midwife would be able to help with? I don't particularly want to discuss this with lots of people who have no experience of my particular situation.

It might be better to talk to women who;ve had the type of birth you want. I'm personally not a huge fan of the medical profession and like to do my own research.

How about the NCT?
