Once you get morning sickness, does it tend to get steadily worse every day before it finally clears up, or is it possible to have a few bad days then good days then go back to feeling rough again?0

hi elle,
this is my first pregnancy so i am not an expert by any means
i was just constantly feeling sick from about 5 weeks to 13 weeks. sorryi only ever threw up once. the ginger thing or dry cracker before i got out of bed never did it for me. i just wanted acidic fruit and sharp fizzy drinks. that's what made me feel better.
i used to get soooooo sick of feeling sick that i found it quite upsetting.
on the positive side though, the sicker i felt and the longer i kept feeling sick, i knew bubs was wanting to hang around.

Hmmm, thats what worries me. First time, I felt sicky for a few days then it went away (although just replaced with other symptoms). This time, felt sicky for a few days and now alright for a few days and now sicky again. Been having quite sharp twinges today too...0 -
I agree with AF, I've been sick a few times but the actual feeling sick is the worst bit... At least when you're ill, being sick makes you feel better... Morning sickness is not like that at all... I'm actually ok when I wake up but need to eat breakfast pretty much straight away... Then by the time I take DD to school I am dry heaving for no specific reason... Then at lunch time I'm suddenly starving, eat lunch and then feel really sick and it doesn't wear off, just steadily gets worse till bedtime... And if I'm really lucky... Like tonight... Heartburn kicks in early evening... Oh and as soon as OH feeds the cats I'm off upstairs like a shot, the smell is enough to make me sick! And the Mr Sizzle burger van has the same effect I discovered on Saturday...
14 weeks today, and I'm feeling more sure it's the baby moving... The feelings seem to be in the same sort of place, just to the left, right at the bottom and a bit underneath my tummy... I'm glad because I had a bit more bleeding this morning but less than it has been so I'm not going to worry about it for the moment...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

as i said, i am no expert, but this is a new pregnancy and perhaps you will feel different (i hope that comes across nicely as that is what i intend). some of the ladies here have said they felt different iin all their pregnancies. maybe it's something like that
i used to get lots of twinges (still do at times) which used to worry me because i was all new to this. others kept telling me that its your body changing and stretching etc.
if you are worried elle, give your midwife a call. honestly, you need to be happy and comfortable and not stressed0 -

Don't worry Elle, as is our motto round here, everybody is different
I am sometimes nauseous for most of the day but not sick, others I'm totally fine but more often than not I wake up feeling nauseous then throw up within 30 mins of getting up then once I've eaten feel ok but have to make sure I don't get hungry.
With my 1st pg I felt generally unwell from around 4-10 wks (I only realised i was pg at 9 wks) then I threw up every single morning from 10 - 15 wks then it suddenly stopped and came back on random days throughout0 -
Thankyou AF - I am taking it in the way you intend
I don't want to sound (to the midwife) like a panicking type - was bad enough earlier this week when she almost gave me a lecture about how an early scan wouldn't make any difference. Thing is, I know the only thing that would tell me for sure is a scan and I don't want her to think I'm putting it on just to get an early freebie when all this could be perfectly normal..0 -
Well I was a brave girl today and went to the baby show on my own on the train.
I don't think I got my ticket price back in savings/freebies but I prob would have got more things if I'd taken Chris as they were doing finger print jewellry which I would have loved and lots of other toddler keepsake things. on the upside the train journeys were free as no conductor on the train
If you know what pram, cot etc you want before going you could have got a fab deal some prams were 1/2 price!!0 -

glad it came across the right way
i can understand what you are saying about your midwife and appreciate not wanting to seem as though you are trying to get a freebie.
i have two midwives that operate from my gp's surgery. could you perhaps talk to another midwife? i have a number for the community midmives also. i have spoken to them a few times on the phone and they were lovely. also suited me becuase i could ask questions without them 'seeing' me (saving me embarassment).
it's your body, your pregnancy and your fears. you have to be as reassured as you need to be and as stress free as possible.

Sadly no, just the one from our surgery and she's only there 2-4pm on Wednesdays. I'll have to get my old notes out to find her mobile number.
I think I might call the hospital direct tomorrow and see if it'll make anything happen any quicker. I have a niggling, stitch-like pain coming and going always by my left hip bone. I know it's prob nothing but the dreading E-word keeps creeping into my head.. GAH!0
