we never found out with the first 2 and had a nice surprise with no 3 we wanted to know so we could be organise, then no 4? - came along and again we wanted to be organised. this time around i think it was such a shock being preg and having DS2 things i wanted to know if i should keep his baby clothes or swap for pink! im glad we did find out as this little girl would have an awful lot of blue to wear:L
i would say if its your 1st have a surprise and dont find out:D
well thats my visitors all away they could tell i was tired and not up for much so they idnt stay for long, which TBH im glad of. my house is all clean and tidy so now can have a relaxing weekend:DWhat's for you won't go past you0 -
Evening all..
Welcome MrsQ and hedgehog - I'm in the same boat, only just pregnant after a m/c (in Aug). Let's all be positive(you too, skinty!)
Greent - glad you got good results quickly
I've had a manic day at work and have a headache as a result. I don't usual get headaches so I'm kinda hoping this one is preg-related which, oddly, makes me happy as I'm 6wks today and that's how far I got (growth wise) last time. Fingers crossed (touch wood, and where's my lucky rabbit's foot?!) we're still growing tomorrow
I was talking to a colleague earlier about wanting to do more with my weekends, rather than just slobbing about the house. She suggested the Christmas Markets and it turns out the Lincoln (nearest to me) one is on 4-7th Dec. I'm 9wks on 5th Dec so had been contemplating a private scan (at a place in Lincoln) on 6th so I think we might time it right so that we can go to the market (if still having a good day!) afterwards. (Skinty, this is a medical, not vanity place - if you're anywhere near Lincoln, the website is www.4dscanning.co.uk, which is a bit of a misleading website name if you ask me!).
ETA: On the subject of finding out the sex, I intend to. I'm not great with surprises (also hence the early scan) and like to plan things. Our spare room is lilac and floral (in a modern, stylish way - not chintzy!) which I'm happy for it to stay if we have a girl, but I'm not convinced I could put a boy in there so I need to know if I've got to redecorate or not!0 -
Oh, DH and I were desperate to know both times! I can't imagine going through 40w without knowing
. We had a 4D scan with Poppy to find out as the 20w NHS one couldn't tell (we have also had a 4D scan with this baby to even though we already knew the sex but didn't want him to feel left out :rotfl:).
Its really difficult for us though as EVERYONE knows what we're having.....except my family! They really don't want to know and want the 'surprise'. Only this forum knows the name though! We (mostly) keep that to ourselves until the birth.
There are enough surprises that go on during labour/birth that one less is fine with me . When I had Poppy they could have told me 'Mrs SB, its a beautiful baby porcupine' and I would have said 'thanks'! :rotfl:

Elle Gee - I am with you on the planning thing, totally and utterly. I like to know exactly what is happening and when - all except for finding out the sex of the babies! Maybe it is the hormones or the maternal (ha, I am a tom boy!) instinct in me!:rotfl:Proud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T0

Congrats and welcome to the thread, MrsQ and Hedgehog!

I'm still here  I've had a lazy day today, much sitting around on the sofa and cat napping. But tonight I am having a hot curry a small glass of red and a hot bath. I saw the midwife yesterday who is coming next friday to give me a sweep. It's funny how we change our minds when the real 'i'm sick of this' kicks in. At the beginning I swore up and down I wasn't having a sweep, but yesterday I was begging her to do it there and then :rotfl::A

Here's a question for you all... Why/What made you decide to have / try for a baby?
Maybe oddly, I've not really thought about it much. I was talking to the girls at work today and said that I suppose one of my reasons is needing a new "challenge" (not sure if that's the right word). All is hunky dory in my relationship (no arguments never, just very very happy), work is alright (and very well paid for what I actually do), my money situation is alright (*ahem* honest - ignore the signature, it'll all be gone by July!) and we have a house (which just needs some decorating).
Sometimes I feel like I don't have a reason to get up (I don't mean that in a depressive way!), especially on a weekend, and now I want a reason and a new purpose. We have a very stable life together and want to add something else to it. I suppose we could get a dog, but I'm not a huge fan of walking and we live in the middle of town with no fields nearby!
Just curious...0 -
Nope - they can't tell me that until the full results are in - when I *will* be finding out for sure!!:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

We decided to have more of a family (already have 2) because we felt we had something to give. We want more of a family, we are comfortable in our lifestyle and we are in a stable relationship (yep, nothing more than minor differences of opinion in 14 years).
We've a 12 yo and a 3yo (both boys) with the wife due in Feb. We decided to find out the sex and its two boys (was a bit of a shock but as we've been told, "It's just an extra tattie in the pot".)
But anyways. We kept it a surprise for our first 2 but decided to be better prepared this time.
Wifes due 4th feb but should get sectioned around middle january. At 28 weeks scan shows both at 2lbs10(approx).0 -
I always knew I wanted to start a family before I was 30 to be fair and DH knew that when he took me on
We both want a family and we agreed that we'd wait until after the wedding. We did think it might take longer than it did to actually concieve but never mind... We fell pregnant first try and are now just short of 14 weeks
with little un due a week after our wedding anniversary!
And yes we have decided to find out what flavour we're havinginitially I thought I wanted it to be a surprise but as things have progressed I've decided that I'd rather know
