Toto - still in the land of with bump I see! You haven't got too long to go now though have you?
I had my early fetal anomaly scan on Thursday (I can't believe I'm 16 weeks already) and everything's fine. Baby is about 50th centile for everything (though she has really long legs)! They couldn't do the spine in depth or the heart so they're going to repeat the scan when I'm 20 weeks. My last pregnancy was anencephalic (nastiest form of spina bifida) so they want to check the spine in minute detail, though thankfully the head and everything else looks perfectly normal
My consultant has said that she'll continue to monitor me by ultrasound at most of my antenatal appointments - (I think it helps that I work there and when I was in hospital last time a lot of the doctors came to see me on the ward to offer some consolations and I think that she wants to 'see for herself' that everything's fine this time.
I attended a talk about water births on Wednesday and it sounds really good. I rather enjoy swimming (and the feeling of being light) and the benefits of being in water for labour sound perfect... reduced pain, shorter labour, quicker birth. Only thing is I've got to tick all the normal boxes (be 37+weeks, no high blood pressure, be under 100kg). So I now realise I can't gain too much weight if this is to be a part of my birth plan. What's everyone else hoping for with their birth plan? Mine really has started from a fear of being awake during a cesarean and them using a staple gun to close me up. So really is taking shape from what I don't want rather than what I do want.
Hope everyone is well.

Cat: I filled most of my birth plan in with the rest of my notes when I was given them at 6wks (about the only time in my life i've been so organised!) the MW said she's never had to do so little filling in at a booking app:A
My plan is basically I want as little pain relief as poss (coped with just gas last time and have a major fear of needles)
Want baby delivered onto my stomach
wait until cord stops pulsating before cutting (I'm thinking of cutting cord myself but not decided yet as don't want hubby to feel left out)
Want to breast feed asap after birth
and I'm having injection to speed afterbirth and bubba will have vit K injection
we're not sure if we're going to find out sex on scan or wait but if we wait we Want MW to tell us sex when born
other things are that I'm open to go through forceps, ventouse, c/s if necessary (as long as bubba arrives and is alive i'll be happy no matter what I have go through)
they'll be no waterbirth for me as the "pool" at wigan hosp is more like a giant bath, I didn't like the look of it when I took the tour last time0 -
Yay feely - another blue bump!! How did hubby enjoy the scan? Is it feeling a bit more real for him now?
Emms - good luck!!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
I had a water birth with DD... pretty sure I was over 100kg too...
The pool was like a really deep bath... Didn't look that close at it tbh... But the feeling of relief as the water rises up over your bump is like nothing you've ever felt before! I would definitely do it again!!!
I am absolutely worn out today, been to an all day conference 2 1/2 hours drive away, lots of talking, lots of networking and lots of sitting in very uncomfortable chairs followed by an uncomfortable minibus... I am so glad to be home and on my busted sofa!
Got given a gift too my first few babygroes! (And when I got back DH had bought a bib that says I love milk on it... He said he wanted to by the whole baby department but held himself back...) Oh and I bought a little thing called a taggie... They're the new big thing but very expensive... Mine was hand made and all proceeds from the £4 cost went to our charity!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

hello all,
reading the forum and watching x factor at the same time (god i love being able to multi-task)
my back is still giving me grief, which is getting on my nerves. seems worse when i have been sitting or laying in bed, and then go to get up. it pinches and then it hurts to straighten up. the heat pads i bought the other day when i went to put one on tonight i read the packet and it said not suitable to use when pregnant  can't use my wheat bag either because the microwave has packed it in so i can't heat it. i need to find a hot water bottle tomorrow!!!!.
hope every one is feeling well today.
wonder how emms is getting on????0 -
cant beleive laura is out of x factor!! well i have told my parents and they are very excited about my PG, deciding if they want to be called grandma, nanny, nanna, etc! its the 1st grandchild!
Then i was round my good friends and she is going to goa next month and she asked me to come. I kind of saw it as a last moment of freedom before bubba comes, kind of peaceful, spiritual hol with a girlfriend. Hubby is fine with it. Im sure my mum will think im being irresponsible but i know it will be fine. If bubba is meant to be then thats what will happen, and if the worse happens at least I did not sit indoors moping for the first 3 months. I will be 10 / 11 weeks on hol. I will eat carefully, veggie only, mineral water etc. ...... Am I being irresponsible?!!!!!!!:j  :j0 -
Nicole Goa is fab, i've been 7 times and would love to go again asap.As long as you're careful with the water etc you should be ok, but not sure about malaria tabs when preg"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
