I think after 2 months it would be a real wrench when he returns to work... Hubby will be getting his 2 weeks paternity and he's hoping to book another 2 weeks holiday so we get a month together. I'm quite looking forward to it really, I much prefer when he's here to when he's at work!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... They do sexing scans from 17w if you really can't wait!
Not sure where abouts in the country you are but they have branches in Liverpool, Preston, Manchester & North London.

Steve noticed this company on the TV in the waiting room (waiting for scan) so jotted down the address.
£60 is brill to have a sexing scan, I thought we would be looking at around £200!
If, when we go for our 20 week scan, they can't tell what the sex is, we will definitely go to these to find out!
I'm not going into work today or tomorrow, I feel awful so hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I'll keep looking for somewhere that does it early. I might phone the last place, on the website it says 20 weeks, but I don't want to wait!
I'm not sure what our plans are for paternity leave. I don't work anyway, which should hopefully be a benefit. No maternity pay though! OH is a contractor, and could have as much time as he wants off. His contract is up on the EDD, so he'll either be renewed and only have a couple of days, or take a bit of unpaid time off, before weighing up what to do next. The fact that I don't know is a bit scary!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Thanks for your thoughts ladies - it's much appreciated. You can't say anything I haven't already thought myself!!
Anyway - just a quickie to say that I just had a shower and I have now reached that inevitable stage of pregnancy where I can no longer see my foof :rotfl: :rotfl:
(well I did catch a glimpse but only after contorting myself)

Hahaha, haven't seen my "foof" in a long time, but then I am 39 weeks pregnant!
My menstral dates and scan dates (had two early scans) were two weeks out. Has anyone else had such differing dates, and if so, when was your baby actually born? Going by my last period, my baby should have been born last Wednesday (8th Oct) and I'm worried that if I go overdue according to scan dates, I could be 44 weeks pregnant by the time they induce me!
Snuffilin - I had an office job which I thought would make life a lot easier, but I found that sitting down at a desk all day gave me terrible backache. Starting brining cushions in from around 20wks. It was weird though, it was high up my back, not low down like they say you get in pregnancy.
Astroming - I started my ML at 32 weeks (well, 35 weeks as I took 3 weeks hols) and now find that I am climbing the walls a little bit and wish I had more time with baby afterwards (bf is giving up work after a year to look after bubba), but it depends on your job as to when you should give up. My job was easy, but the travel was a nightmare.
MrsTine - the midwife didn't send my bf out either when talking about domestic violence. She handed me a leaflet and asked me to read it so that she could tick something off in my notes. I look at it, and handed it to bf. We both thought that was a bit strange, what with him being there and all! I had to pay for nuchal scan as well, but did so as my hospital does not offer 12 week scans and I wanted one for peace of mind, so combined the two. My hospital also doesn't offer telling you the sex, so had another scan at 26 weeks to find out and combined that with a 4D scan which was great. But I am terrified that the scan lady got it wrong and what Greent has just said, makes it worse!
BargainAholic - I have it in my head that I am going to have bubba on 20th October as well. Dunno why, but I will be exactly 27 and a half when she arrives if she does come out that day.
I know I've probably left it a bit late, but how many people actually massage their perinium (sp)? I find it a bit hard and keep blooming forgetting!! Does it actually help in the grand scheme of things? I don't like the idea of ripping or tearing?
And finally... has anyone noticed how quickly Roxie's pregnancy in Eastenders seems to be flying by? I'm sure she used to be 4 months behind me, but they have already made her the size of a house and she will probably have the baby before Xmas.
Still, not as bad as that new programme on Sky, Fringe, where she managed to conceive and have the baby within 1/2 an hour! Ouch!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I didn't massage my perinium at all with DD... and tore pretty badly... So probably not a good advertisment... I probably won't this time either though tbh... Not entirely convinced it would make a difference... The only friend I had that did it ended up having a cs so was a waste of time for her anyway!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Hey girls, just checking in!
I received my green booklet and booking appointment this morning! My appt is for next thursday which will make me 9+3 hurrah! I havent been told to take a urine sample with me or anything, the letter just says the appt is to complete my history. Is this right or should i take a sample anyway, or be prepared to pee on demand?
Also ive been feeling dog rough for a couple of weeks now, ive had yesterday and today off work, been sick a few times but not today, but just cant get my tummy to settle, or my headaches to cease. Ive tried eating little and often, not eating and drinking togther, and eating dry bland foods but notinh really does much good! Hubby is on a mission to keep my blood sugar up so im on a diet of fruit juice, lucozade hydro, haribo, ice lollies and other sweet treats, oh and i cant get enough of crisps, or bacon rolls (but i pay for that after with major nausea). Ooooh I just cant wait for this stage to be over!0 -
Hi
thought I'd add to the scanning debate:
I've had scans at 6 weeks, 10 weeks and 12 weeks. I know i'm also having scans at 16 and 19 weeks. But all my hospital appointments have been with fetal medicine consultant because of my previous pregnancy bad luck (1 miscarriage, 2 ectopics and one anencephalic fetus) so I'm not yet following the normal antenatal care pathway.
Because I'm being seen by the fetal medicine consultant she did the nuchal fold scan (I haven't had the blood tests because they are only 60% accurate whereas the scan is 80% accurate). Saying that I think that most people in Leeds do have to pay because my community midwife gave me some information that said make arrangements for a private nuchal fold scan.
I have been told the (likely) sex of the baby and I think it's common practice here to do this (if baby cooperates) but at cities like Bradford where there is a high ethnic population they don't (policy set partly because of the termination requests because the baby was the wrong sex).
re. Maternity leave
I'm due on 21st April and plan to work up until the end of March but 1st - 20th April will be using my annual leave entitlement (but because Easter is in the middle not that many days holiday will be used;)).
