BFP = Big Fat Positive
AF = Aunt Flow (when your period arrives....)

I have never been late with my periods either, well 2 days once... But AF showed up none the less. Can you ask them to take a blood test for pregnancy, as that would be more accurate, wouldn't it? I am sure someone here will be soon to tell you about why they are asking for urine sample, but I also remember someone fighting doctors to get blood test as the strips where not showing positive for weeks. She got the blood test in the end and it was positive... Good luck!

I don't know but I would have thought she is taking the pregnancy test as procedure to either rule out or confirm pregnancy although you have already taken some tests at home I would imagine she probably needs to send off a test herself.
With the smear and swabs again I would have thought procedure thing to rule stuff out but as far as I'm aware Cervical cancer doesn't stop your periods (a close friend of mine was diagnosed with it fairly recently) - if anything it can cause erratic bleeding I think. Sounds like this doc has really worried you - can you give the surgery a call and ask to speak to her so she can explain to you why she needs to do the tests etc...
I've not much experience of periods stopping - the only time I've ever been late is when pg and also when I lost an awful lot of weight with stress when I was younger.

I would definately ask for levels to be checked. Prolactin increases naturally in pregnancy so it being raised cons your body into thinking it is pregnant hence cycles stopping. I was one of the lucky ones in that my GP checked really early. Others I've heard of with the same thing took years to be diagnosed. Only thing I would say is GP broke it to me quite badly. She rung me up on a friday evening and literally said "your blood tests indicate you have a benign brain tumour" I went to pieces when I got off the phone. I spent the weekend looking everything up on the internet and found a wonderful support forum. It's been a few months now since finding out and being put onto the medication and everything seems normal. I will have to stay on the medication unless I have the tumour removed which I don't want at the moment. The more research that is done on pituitary tumours the more common they seem to think they are. All I would say is it was very scary finding out at first but now the way I look at it is the only affect it has is that I need medication which isn't a big deal really. Good luck with everything and if they do diagnose something similar I can recommend www.pituitary.org.uk for info and support.

As has been said, a Doctor will do their own pg test as part of procedure.
As for the smear test, I don't know what that will show up as cervical cancer doesn't stop your periods, my periods carried on as normal and I had an aggressive form of cervical cancer.
The swabs would be checking for all types of infections.

There are a lot of reasons why your periods either don't show up one month or are late.
Most commmon causes (after pg) are not oving that month, stress, sudden weight loss/gain and suddenly starting exercise.

I know its easier said than done but try not to worry.

Any updates on the Sperm Meets Egg Plan? OH and I are definitely going to give it a go this month - it'll be a trip to the docs and moving up to the 12+M thread if it doesn't happen this month, I'm afraid

Anyone up for a bout of symptom spotting? :cool: I'm on CD26 of a 28-32 day cycle and today I had stapping pain in my lower left side for about 3 hours on and off. It wsa like a stitch but lower down and was quite sore. I'm hoping it's implantation pain but I'm not going to obsess about it like I did last month though :rolleyes: . I'm only 9 days past ovulation so won't be testing for a few days yet.
