    Thanks, Hayley11.

What should I be looking for with my temperature please? I've heard of doing this but not sure quite what to do.

    Sorry for being daft...

    Bfx

You're not daft :D I didn't know at first either.

If you google basal body temperature it will tell you exactly what it is but basically you check your temperature first thing in the morning, before you get up, have a drink or anything, you need to do it at the same time everyday. Then after you have ovulated you may notice a slight rise in your temperature and I think it only goes back down after your AF. Apparantly it can take a few months to really see when you do ovulate.

I don't do it anymore because I just couldn't do it at the same time everyday, most days were okay but then some days the postman would come or something and disrupt it.

Or you could some cheap ovulation sticks off Access Diagnostic and see if you get a postive? They tell you if you are ovulating or not but you have to careful when you take the tests, there's instructions on the packet but they're quite specific. :)

Oh i'm a bit fed up again. Been to the scan with my friend and it was amazing seeing it but then she found out she was having a girl and she has picked the name. The same name I have had chosen for years and she knows full well it's the name I wanted. I know I sound so childish and pathetic and I have no rights to this name but it just upset me a little bit. And then she rang our other friend (we all went to school together) and she said well she'll (meaning me) look stupid because everyone will think she's copied you. That's quite a spiteful thing to say IMO so i'm not happy with her.

I'm still feeling really quite sick but I am eating so I don't mind, it's just a bit annoying

ETA - I know I am being crazy and I am fine now, I swear these better be pregnancy hormones making like this, I keep getting upset over the slightest thing :rotfl:

  • Thanks, Hayley. I will do some research.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me when you seem to have a lot going on. Your friend doesn't sound very likeable at the moment and "taking" your baby name is just rude IMO. Perhaps give her a bit of space. Maybe her hormones are making her act this way...

Its accompanied by ab cramps,so Im hopeful its down to implantation. AF isnt due for 5 or 6 days yet and Ive never had this the week before before. All the other symptoms are still there plus a headache and a metal taste in my mouth. Im feeling really positive :D Do you have any signs yet?

Thanks ladies :) I'm okay now, I know some people don't get the whole "I picked that name first" but in our group of friends we do get it so that's why it's annoyed me. The thing is, her husband is so arrogant and up himself that if he thought for a second I was going to call my baby the same name as his, he wouldn't use the name. So I might tell him :D

Aww see I haven't had any of symptoms apart from feeling sick this morning and being a bit hormonal, and i'm due on tomorrow (or Sunday!) I know deep down that I am not pg this month but I really want to be :(

I expect this is one of those questions that you can't just answer but does anyone know if everyone has an exactly 14 day long luteal phase or does it tend to range - like everything else???!!

My cycle is always exactly 31 days & so if everyones luteal phase is 14 days then I wouldn't ovulate until CD17. I expect though that it's not that simple. I know I could get an OPK but its too late really this month as I'm on CD15 today & I can't bring myself to buy one from the shop for £20 just to get it instantly.

I just wish I knew when I ov in my cycle - argh! We are BD'ing every other day although a couple of times it has been more often than that - whoops! - but I'm so worried we won't catch again this month.

    Hi Nikabella,

My cycle is either 26 or 31 days and more often than not I ov on day 20 of my cycle although not until 22 this month so my lp is either 6 or 11 days. The only way of knowing more accurately when you ov is by temping or opk's. I was talking to my endochrinologist about lp and he said that you ov on day 14 of your cycle! Reassuring to know a senior consultant specialising in hormones is so ignorant to believe all women ov on day 14 and have a 28 day cycle! I ask you!

    Lol - typical man :rotfl:

That's really intersting becs, I never realised your lp could be as short as 6 days! That might be how we missed getting pregnant last month then as we only seriously BD'd until CD19! This month I will make sure we BD right up until AF is due in that case! I know the advice is to BD every other day rather than every day & I know sperm can survive up to 5 days in a woman's tubes but I'm completely paranoid that we will miss it unless we BD every day.

We've tried temping & even though my partner has been taking my temperature as he wakes me up at the same time every morning the numbers have been all over the place. Maybe it's because we are using an ear thermometer . I have been trying to keep an eye on my CM & last month I'm pretty sure I got the EWCM on CD17 so I'm hoping that I can use that as a guide.

    Thank you for replying too!

Sorry to hear ur having bad time Elastigirl - take it easy

As usual so glad I am not the only one with a fickle man again. As you may remember mine started off my not wanting to BD as he was "fat & ugly" to wanting to BD fora whole week last month for a week to catch it. So my cycle repaid his efforts by being longer and out of sync so I OV'd later then when we tried.

He now seems to only want to BD when there's a chance of getting pg!
This month I'm on OPKs due to strange cycle, and got a + yesterday so did the dance. I've also had a dodgy cough so been taking cough mixture (with only guaifenesin as an active ingredient;)) for a week!

So fingers crossed trying a few things to help out

I did the temping thing for a few months and used fertility friend to work it all out as my temps looked like a join the dots picture! I switched to Clearblue fertility monitor 2 months ago which I find is way easier except when it's time went a bit haywire this month and wasn't asking for a test until I was on my way to work which was great fun!
lp of 6 days is too short to achieve a pregnancy. I have a tumour on my pituitary gland which has screwed up my prolactin hormone causing me not to have periods for over a year last year. Now they thought that was under control they have done progesterone tests this month which was supposed to be my dodgy month (alternates 11 day lp then 6 day lp) anyway did the blood tests and typically my cycle had 11 day lp just to confuse things! One step forward and two back!
