Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Sunday 12th October . It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone!
Feel quite bouncy this morning, despite the fact it's still the middle of the night. My friend has chosen to go home from the hospital so is with his family which is great and I can hear his toddlers playing in the background as we speak on the mics. He hates hospitals so he is much happier now. Thank you everyone for the hugs for him, I truly believe all the positive thoughts can only help.
Lovely roast dinner to be had today, so can't wait.
Oh Beth - I couldn't help but laugh at your tale but I am totally in awe of you standing up for yourself the way you did! Well done you. Good job it wasn't raining or you would have had a really damp backside!
Squiggly - SHOULD there be any cheesecake left after I have sat with a big spoon and am empty stomach, then I am hiding it somewhere no-one will ever find it. Yes, that's right, in the washing hamper.:rotfl: (I should explain no one in this house uses the damn thing, washing goes on the floor in front of the washing machine or in the corner in the bathroom until it magically appears in the washing machine!)
Thank you Essex girl, PippaS, Sunnyday, Kaat, shez and patentgirl, I was really thrilled! Sorry though Janny and others.. not sure there will be ANY left, I am a bit of a piglet when it comes to cheesecake.
Welcome to the thread Dinkydido hon
Llama - sorry about your car honey, some people have no respect.
Wooohoooo Annie - well done on finding your shoes!!
Taplady - hope your friend is Ok
Have a great sunday, ladies and hugs to anyone who needs them and congratulations to those celebrating today.

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

Morning Money Saving Diva and all who follow
:rotfl: at hiding any remains in the washing hamper
anniestar - well done on finding your shoes
A fairly quiet night here for me - just been number crunching for 8 hours solid and my head is a little fuzzy, but other than that all is well (luckily somebody else will check this for me before Dr Jeckyll gets it so I don't have to worry too much about the little gaps). Plan for today is to sleep for a bit then try and move my computer home later on - at least so it's out of the way for the person who's inheriting my desk
OH's friend is going to collect some of his things from OH's estranged wife for him - quite why she waited 2 years to tell him she had these things I'll never know. Sometimes I fail to see the logic in all this. She's going to be mightly annoyed it's not OH coming to collect stuff, but such is life
Really really must clean the fish today. The one with a single feeler looks healthy (if a bit asymmetric!) - funny how they fight so much given they all came together from the same tank in the shop.
have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
A very early(for me) good morning.Hubby is up watching the grande prix live and so has woken me up and now I can't get back to sleep again.
Just looked out the window and it's dry and surprizingly warm which is a blessing realy as we're still pointing our back wall.Still it's coming along nicely and because the weather was so lovely yesterday, between the two of us we got quite a bit done.I just keep thinking of the 600 quid we'll be saving everytime I start to ache and it spurs me on.
Diva-so pleased to hear that your friend is back home and with his family.I did'nt realise he had a young family. That is very sad. Please give him my best wishes.
cel- enjoy your day
to all that follow have a good day and hugs to all who might need one.

Morning you earlybirds!!
Diva, excellent idea for a hiding place...!!! However, you will make yourself sick if you eat the whole thing - you really should share you know....And I agree, there's a lot to be said for positive thinking.
Celyn, will you stop doing nights soon then? OH's ex is probably still doing what my ex does - thinking he might change his mind...?! lol... (my ex left his 2nd wife for the 2nd time in 6 months yesterday, they've barely been married 2 years, but she is a really nasty piece of work, so that will make life easier for my DD's)
MrsT-Mouse, it is really warm isn't it? I have got my bedroom window open, but it is still so muggy. Thick fog outside too.
Stefejb - HOW'S THE HANGOVER???????
woke up early & couldn't get back to sleep, then got up to peer out one of DD's windows (she's out & there are streetlights at the front of the house, as I thought it was foggy but too dark to see out my room at the back). Her room (which I knew was a bit of a tip) was such a disgusting mess, I found my slippers I've been looking for, so I spent 10 minutes scraping everything into a huge pile.... (and wondering why I was doing that at just gone 6am?!)
She lives like a tramp & I am really cross as she has had the whole room redone this past few months (decorated, carpet, bed, furniture, curtains, etc). So I will be "doing a troo" when she comes home in a bit. At 16 she's old enough not to have it like that.
So made tea, let the cats out & going to sit here & research some online databases, thinking about my dissertation subject & now trying to tie it in with the placement I'm going to. I do like this time of day, when it's all peaceful.
Maybe meatballs for dinner, or I might get some pastry & have a go at the mince plait idea that was on here. Also doing rocky road later so there's some for school snacks, if it lasts till tomorrow!

Good morning all. It's looking like another lovely day here; although it's not quite light the sky looks clear. We've had more sun this last week than we had in the whole of July and August.
Well done, Jet - I'm glad it went so well and that you raised so much money. I still think you're very brave! I don't like heights so I could never do that.
Well, I seem to be sleeping for England these days. I used to have terrible trouble dropping off to sleep and staying asleep but, since I've cut caffeine out after about 7pm and started drinking milky hot chocolate, I've been getting a very good night's sleep most nights. The trouble is it doesn't stop me wanting an afternoon nap whenever I get the chance and I still doze off on the sofa in the evenings.
I enjoyed the memories of Citizen Smith yesterday; I used to love that programme. I remember how skinny Robert Lindsay used to be! It's one of the programmes I wish they would repeat.
Strictly was very good; I loved all the dancing despite what the judges said, and the dresses were gorgeous. It's a shame anyone has to be voted off now because I think they're all good.
Dinner today is roast pork with all the trimmings and I have to think of a pudding to do. I need to do some more baking; as fast as I make cakes they get eaten.
Anyway, off to put the kettle on again.
See you later.

Morning. I had been up for some time as I could not sleep very well. I think the bed is uncomfortable and also perhaps too much coffee last night.
I was up at 5, so decided to watch the grand prix. Pretty hopeless for Hamilton, and far too many adverts on ITV. You are about to watch a great overtake and then instead you have to see some idiot BT gut with his BT vision advert.
Did well shopping yesterday, got some good books from the charity shop and OH got some nice skirts. We splurged later by buying a great pan from the Aga shop. It's 2 pans that also turn in to a casserole dish, so just what i have been looking for, but ouch on the price.
Lazy Sunday today, not sure if I am going to church yet.... should do really.
well have a nice day, cheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good Morning
cut the 'lawn' yesterday which is my most hated job in the whole wide world, please tell me this is the last time I have to put myself through it until 2009. I really am not a gardener of any sort. The only thing I can grow is mould on bread !
I have succumbed to the purchase of a MR slow cooker, hopefully be here next week, and this board is to blame. All these mouth watering recipes ...meatballs and curries have been driving me insane. Really fancied a remoska, but can't have both.
Found a nice pork tenderloin at the back of the freezer so have decided to have that today, no idea what I am going to do with it.
Some unopened glace cherries in the cupboard so a cherry madeira cake hopefully today aswell.
Really do have a lot of excess food in the freezer so menu planning to use it all up this week, some strange concoctions I'm sure.
Sky is clear, wooden garden furniture is look a little decrepid I may venture into the shed to find the tin of stuff we used to seal it, I really am not the worlds most organised person.
Have a good day all.DC.

Looks like it is going to be another lovely day.
Bread rolls are rising for bacon baps. WM is on with a hope of putting it on the line.

I loved citizen smith when I was little - my brother was very small when it was on TV and used climb up on things and shout "power to the people" :rotfl:

Yep - today is my last one - It's voluntary as I need to get some data to someone before I go away - If I don't do it then I won't get a peaceful holiday, as even though I've finished here he will still phone and be difficult. Trouble with Dr Jeckyll (well, one of the many problems he has) is that he doesn't have any concepts of boundaries - if he wants something he stamps around like a petulent three year old and just won't let up until he gets his way. This can include no respect for personal time - so 2 am phone calls, Christmas day txts and the like. And you never leave either, he even rings people who have been gone for years and demands things.
I think you're right about his ex too- she does little things to try and get him to meet her/talk on the phone all the time ("oh I found this", "I need X") and so forth. I did suggest this, but OH doesn't see it or want to admit it. I'm not worried or threatened by it, I just think it's destructive for her to stay stuck in that rut. If it had been me, I'd have either chucked it away or stuck it in the post with no note; but I guess I don't do looking back.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Morning all,
Looks like another good day here, really foggy earlier, but its cleared up now. I had a nice early night last night, and so have been up a while, and feel so much better for it. WM is on with dd's uniform, which I will hang out today.
OH has gone off with Little dog to the car boot sale, and he will drop her off at my mums after, we are going to Brighton for the day shopping, dd has saver her allowance and so has £40 to spend, she has written a list as long as your arm  , I think we will be hitting Primark, we will have a nice lunch out too :T , I was doing a roast chicken for today, but will do it tomorrow instead.
Diva, I am glad your friend had been able to go home x
Squiggly, what is rocky road ? sounds yummy x
Kathy I cannot have caffine either, I slept so badly for years without realising, I have two cups of tea a day, and only drink decaf coffee, my dd cannot drink it either.
Os wise today, I will change the beds later, and have a quick tidy, the rest can wait till tomorrow.
Have good days all xx0
