Treat yourself to a cab!
Penny Pincher - (((hugs))) to you.
llamahead - wow! you lucky things! (not the car, obviously but emigrating to Australia)
  to all those that I have missed.
DH and I have popped to our local Farmers' Market this morning and treated ourselves to a hog roast for lunch. Mmmmm. I also stocked up on ostrich burgers and got some thai fish cakes that someone from work highly recommended! They are now waiting in the freezer to be used. DH cracked under the pressure of the lure of chocolate brownies.
Oh, and I've also posted two books that I've managed to swap on ReaditSwapit.
DH was supposed to be helping his big sis and BIL get up some of their paving slabs at their house, only to receive a phone call this morning to say that SIL had just stopped being ill and BIL was in bed sleeping it off.
Due to the fact that he now has to spend the day with me, we're popping out in a while to a nearby stately home that we've never actually been to.
WM needs emptying and then filling up again. Anyone want to do it for me? It's sunny enough here (and warm enough!) for me to contemplate putting the washing outside (gasp) to dry.

Afternoon Everyone:hello:
Haven't posted for a while, but thought I should today after a "promp" from a fellow OSer texting me- I've probably missed loads of gossip:D please feel free to fill me in!
Firstly I have to :rotfl: and :T betheebee - standing in a hole fr 3hrs fighting the council:T Good on ya!! We have a similar problem with our council erecting a fence too close to our rear path that we cant get any furniture in or out now! We have our man coming down next tues to investigate further:rolleyes: (jobsworth etc)
What's even funnier is I was sent to an Interview Recruitment Day for jobs at our Council.....a total shambles!!:rotfl:
Anyway been swimming lessons this morning and while there the kids saw the trampolining club - something else they want to do now! (more payout!:p I dont mind really!) They will have a trial lesson next week see what they think first!
As for OS, I'm afraid I've not done any baking etc for ages, but then I suppose you get those not interested phases?:o
jet77 - Good Luck with the Skydive:T I would love to do that, but not sure if I would, you start getting the collywobbles as you get older:o
Dinkydido - Welcome!
essexgirl - enjoy the Footy later - I got some of those cheap England Shirts the other day in SportDirect for the kids!
moneysavingdiva - well done on thewin!
stefejb - Oh my word!! hope your job is safe??
pennypincher - love the new avatar, very tasty!
Mrs Mix - Glad your ok! Has your season finished with the rides now?
Big Wave to all the hussies:hello: are you still posting???
have a great saturday allxx0 -
Beth well done to you for standing up to the Council :j I hope you told the plonker to tear a strip off whoever it was decided to put it there in the first place. Your hubby should have phoned the local paper while you were demonstrating, that would have shown the Council up for what they are.
Made my rock cakes, as I was adding the sugar a great big load of it swoooshed into the bowl  I tried to spoon as much out as I could but they still came out really sweeeeeet, too sweet (if ever this is such a thing) Never mind they will still get eaten.
Going to Asda later tonight, after the football, if I can be bothered. When it gets dark you don't want to move do you. They have had a refurb and now have a large clothing section that they never had before. Didn't dare go near the shop during the day as I expect it will be heaving as it's Saturday. If I can't get my a**e into gear I will go when it opens up tomorrow morning.

too sweet (if ever this is such a thing
)
NO. There isn't.
Happy Anniversary Bootsalebabe, have a lovely day.
Sounds like a few people have "dropsy" today - the cure is to sit on the sofa with feet up & be waited on hand and foot....
Kathy & Beth - you have me thinking about "Power to the People" now...! (and I was only a little child when that programme was out...)
Stef, good luck on the job front - very reassuring though that the HR man knows nothing about HR!!
Redruby, 10 miles? That wouldn't be team-building for me as I'd be disappearing somewhere & leaving the rest of them to it, lol!! Glad to hear your mum is improving.
Llamahead, so where in Aus are you? You could drop in on Aussie
Shez, good to hear from you. I know what you mean, I definitely have "can't be bothered" phases. yesterday afternoon was one.
Back from helping at Uni open day, hopefully encouraged a few more people to train as social workersWhile I was there got a text from middle DD informing me that their father has left the she-devil (2nd wife) for the SECOND time in about 6 months. He's only been back with her a couple of months. Their 2nd anniversary was only August. Impressive I think. That news should cheer up all my DD's though as they don't like the she-devil either. So I'll get an update later when they're all home from being out in town with their mates (or working).
Just enjoying the last hour of peace for now. I should get some washing out as it's so lovely here today. Rocky road may be created too....Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Hello all,
its actually sunny for a change here today! After having an OS free day yesterday, I've been busy making up for it todayBeen to tescos, so got stocked up on some stuff for the next few days anyway, while I work my way through what is already in the freezer. Have been clearing out stuff, so been to the dump twice. DW has been on, and the WM is just about to go on (once I've finished typing)
I picked up some lovely turkey fillets at the shop, so will cook them tonight ready for tea tomorrow, as I will have the oven on this evening for tea anyway. Also planning on making an apple pie and a peach sponge - like an eves pudding but peaches instead
Lunch was sandwiches, and tea will be something involving sausages. Then I can site and watch Merlin, Strictly, and X Factor :rotfl:
Take care all, *hugs* available if you want one0 -
Hello all!
betheebee -at you standing in the hole, but glad it worked!!
Essex-Girl - Glad you are sorting things out now, hope you don't get any more problems.
Finished work for another week - did 8 til 2 today, so that was ok. I have been assigned to train someone on the weekend shift (despite still being on probation myself :rolleyes) - fortunately he seems to be picking it all up very quickly.
I painted my kitchen cabinet yesterday but have not done a very good job - stupid gloss paint. Speaking of gloss paint, I have had my outside woodwork painted this week and the guy has done a *really* bad job. he has painted a line around the actual window glass, but instead of taping it and making it look professional, he has just done it freehand and it is really wobbly. The maint thing though - my front door doesn't shut now. I told him when he did the first coat, he said he would look at it and has just painted it over it more and made it worse. I think what has happened is that he has shut my door too much when he's left it for drying, and the paint has stuck to the door seals and pulled them all out of place. So now I have to tell my landlady.
Anyway, plans for the rest of the weekend - hmm, not too sure, All my washing is up to date, just got a bit of ironing to do. So, chilling I suppose
Anyway, hope you all have a good weekend :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
I DID IT!!!!
It was an amazing experience and I really enjoyed it. The weather couldn't have been betterand we ended up jumping from 12,500 feet :cool: There were 2 parts of it - the freefall at 120 mph and then floating down with the parachute which felt so sureal (sp?) THANK YOU for all the good luck wishes they are much appreciated. I have left the sponsorship forms at work but think I have raised approx £360 :j:j
Beth - lol lol you really showed them!! Well Done you :T
I'm going to get my head down for a few hours after my ridiculously early start.
