Morning all, JET, you must be mad of brave, good luck on your dive.

Well, I was in 2 minds whether to get out of bed today as y/day was a dissaster. I was trying to empty the study to decorate. I unscrewed a mirror off the wall,4ft x 3ft and dropped it, glass everywhere. As I put the glass in the bin I could hear some road works at the end of my drive.
I went to investigate and found 3 council workers digging a hole right next to the entrance. I asked what they were they doing. ''Where putting a post in for a speed sign'' I explained that I would have to get the front wheels of my car onto the road before I could see if any traffic was coming around the corner as the pole blocked my view.
Jobs worth steped in and said they had to put it there. I said it was dangerous and asked them to move it further down the pavement.
''Nope it's got to be here''
I deceided that the only way to stop them was to jump into the hole, so I did.
I stood in the hole, up to my hips for nearly 2 hrs before they would tell me who was responsible. They just stared in disbelief at this mad woman.

Got DH to fetch my phone so I could calll the idiot at the Council who had arranged for the pole to be placed there. He was at lunch, eventually spoke to him an hour later. He agreed to drive here and asses the situation, meanwhile DH bought out a tray of coffees and slices of my apple cake. Workers sat in the van, I sat in the hole.
Idiot Council man arrived and agreed it was dangerous, so they agreed to refill the hole...... once I had climbed out. 3hrs 15mns stood in a hole.
So didn't achieve much in the study.

Plan to do lots today to make up for lost time, DF bought a bag of apples and a marrow around, think he just wanted to find out why I was stood in a hole, anyway I'll make another apple cake and stuffed marrow for dinner, have some ys mince defrosting. BM and WM whiring away.

Off to catch up on y/days thread, back later.

Oh Beth - I'm so impressed and proud of you! Well done! I'd love to have seen it all happen! I shall tell everyone who thinks there is no point in protesting to jobsworths. Years ago I succeeded in getting a green 'playing area' fenced off because people were walking their dogs on it and the local mums were not letting their children play on it, even though it was meant to be for children! All of us could see the dogs doing their business from their dining room windows - this was in the days when no-one cleared up after their dogs; the smell on a hot day was awful. The last straw came when one of the children ended up with dog mess on their new coat and the mum couldn't bear to keep the coat. I said I would sit on the green all day if necessary and stop the dog walkers, and that I would invoice them for my time. They fenced it off and put a 'no dogs' sign up. It just goes to show that sometimes people power works! I also got some dangerous branches lopped of some trees opposite my house that heavy lorries kept breaking. The branches would fall in the road and I was so frightened that they would cause accidents. I got them lopped and regularly checked.

    Well done to you!

(((Hugs))) to you PenPin. I hope you feel better soon.

Pippa - thanks for asking; it's much better now. Very black and blue but not painful - it just aches a bit when I've been busy!

Welcome Dinkydido - lovely name! This is a lovely thread!

    Morning all,

Lovely day here, got a wash on and one more to go in, so will get them on the line today.

I went to the hen night last night and had a great evening, although I am feeling a tad jaded this morning, have had lots of tea, and fried eggs on toast and am starting to feel human again :o .

On wednesday of next week we are having a team build day at work, which is a trreasure hunt which involves a 10 mile walk, this should be ok for me as we walk an awful lot, but some of the girls in the office dont walk at all, so it may be a shock to them  , so OH and I are out today for a 10 mile walk to practice, will take lunch with us, and stop on the way.

DD stayed at my mums last night and helped mum with her cleaning, so my mum was thrilled, she is feeling much better now, but where they injected her in the arm, its swollen to twice its normal size and is black and blue and very tender.

Jet, hopefully you will have done your jump by now, hope it all went well and you have raised a lot of money, well done you :T

Beth, I had a good laugh at you standing in the hole, but well done you :T

    dinkydido- hello and welcome

Stef, I would treat yourself and get a taxi, hope it all works out on the job front xx

Celyn, NOW get some sleep, well done to you xx

    BSB, happy anniversry xx

Better get on, hugs where needed, have good days all xx

  • Hi all, been ages since I posted because we have now emigrated to australia!! Boiling hot here which is lovely.

REALLY furious today, we have saved really hard for a new car and got it 2 weeks ago - someone hit it in the car park today and didn't leave a note, my lovely new, hard worked for car, is poorly and we will have to pay to get it repaired!! WHY do people behave like that??

Anyway - hope you all have a good day - all sympathy gratefully received!

    Hi all,

the kitchen is now clean and tidy and i`m just waiting for my bottles to steralize (sp) so that i can bottle some hm wine.
The freezer list is done and next weeks meal planner has been completed and the houndlets have had their walk, they have seen lots of their friends too so now they are happy fed and sleeping :D

The postie has just been and i am so annoyed, our pension scheme has written to tell us that one of the auditors has had a laptop stolen with all our personal details on  this type of thing really is beyond a joke now.
I would have thought that companies like this learn from the mistakes of others but it seems not! Apparently they deem the risk to be minimal of someone accessing the information but not impossible.

I hope that bottling the wine will calm me down.

Diva - Congratulations on your win! Mr Sunnydays favourite desert is cheesecake so i may treat him at the shops today.

    Welcome to Dinkydido

    Happy Anniversary Bootsalebabes!

Redruby - It`s so nice to hear that your mum is feeling better now.

Off to bottle the wine now so i shall catch up later.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    dinky

    Welcome to old style:hello:

DH has hung out the towels that have just been washes as it looks like a good drying day.

Have to be at Sainsburys for flu jabs for four of us this afternoon and might put dough in the breadmaker to bake in the Remoska later.

Have promised DD14) home made pancakes for breakfast so will be doing that in a few minutes.

Hugs to pennypincher, candygirl and anyone else who could do with one.

    Penny

Maybe if you gave anyone ill a surgical mask to wear while they were there it might bring things home to them a bit more.

DH is discussing maths with DD so she will really need those pancakes later !lol!
