OS Daily Thread - Saturday 11th October

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Saturday 11th October . It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone!coffee-n-pc.gif
Oooh I had some good news yesterday! woo.gif I write the odd review for a business review site which is fun and last month they had a competition to write reviews on businesses that had something to do with animals. Anyway, I submitted three I think and one of mine won!!! I have won a huge sticky cheesecake from this wonderful company http://www.cheesecake.co.uk/celebration_shop_new.htm
My mouth is already watering.... Anyone wanting to come for a cup of tea when it arrives?............Too bad, it's mine all mine and I am NOT sharing... rotfl.gif:rotfl: :rotfl:

Haribo and Lame - I feel such a fool now, I have used those extra smilies many times before but not recently as I had an outside link to a 'Smilie' list which I used instead, but of course lost when my computer crashed last weekend. Anyway, I had completely forgotten about the cake being there! Have found another link now so that should keep me happy!
Essexgirl - My next suggestion after the school would have been your community police officer, they are really helpful. Glad you are getting it all sorted.
Hugs to you and your OH Kaat hon - hope you enjoyed the piccalilli recipes I pm-ed!

My friend has decided to forgo chemo... there are no guarantees and he feels that he wants quality of life rather than a chance of more time but feeling like hell even more than he does now. I am not sure how I feel about that but I love him so support him all the way. It's been 8 years since he was in the UK but he still remains one of my very best friends.

Anyway, hope that didn't spoil the start of anyones day - just wanted to share, as you have all been so kind with your support and hugs.

Have a great day everyone - I have already put the bread maker on with a hovis granary and yesterday I made kipper pate... a variation on smoked haddock pate.. haven't tried it yet so no idea what it will taste like - will report back later!

Hugs smileyhug.gifto everyone who needs them and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today.

    Morning.

Day off today and I am not sure what to do. There is not much in the way of gardening to do, so I think we might head for Truro and wander about the shops. I should do somthing more constrcutive perhaps, but just cannot be bothered.
After the trial I attended early in the week, my opinion of the courts has not changed. They are all a fiasco. I attended another case on my day off and on they day they adjourned it. Waste of time that was. Even worse was another case where again a fellow colleague went on her day off, a witness was flown from the carribean and another came from London (we are in Cornwall). They adjourned it after the defence barrister said to the Judge he had forgotten to call one of his witnesses. That's mine and your tax money wasted there. About £5000 in air fares, expenses and fee's. Waste waste waste.

Well time to make a coffee and balance my own books, see if I have any shopping money left.

    Cheers

Good morning all and GOOD LUCK to Jet! I shall be thinking of you when I'm sat having my brekkie - you're very brave and I hope you raise lots of money for ME.:A

Well woke up a bit later than usual so I'm just having a quick cuppa before I have my shower. I have work to do today (from home, luckily) but I have cleared the decks of housework so that I can concentrate on it. I just have washing to do and anything else can wait until tomorrow. I love being able to work from home but it is so hard not to get distracted by other things. Next Sunday I am going to stay with my Mum for a few days so I want to get all my work commitments up to date.

Dinner tonight is leftover stew - to be eaten before Strictly - so I don't have any food prepping to do.

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Candygirl's Dad, Essex-girl's Dad, Pippa's DH and Mum, Beth and her family, RedRuby's Mum and Meanmarie and her DH. ((Hugs))) also to those still suffering with colds, coughs and sore throats.

    Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, I'd better go and have my shower.

See you all later and, once again, Good Luck Jet!

Just realised what a daily thread is after looking at the different forums over the last few days.
Have already made a big pot of broth this morning for the brood while I'm at work (about to set off soon). Ive also been given a big bag of cooking apples. Made a srumptious apple crumble yesterday, making apple scones this evening.

Ooooh Jet77 I am in awe of you!!! Can 't stand heights, so have a great day and hope you raise lots of cash

Glad to see that most people are sticking up for Martin in his thread. I can't believe why people would blame him. Hope he has seen it and feels a little better about things now

Nothing exciitng going on here today. Usual shopping (will get a couple of £10 deals in Marks for the freezer) then home. DH bought some cooking apples home from someone in work yesterday so will maybe make a pie or crumble with them and use the same mix to make some rock cakes I think. Beds to change today, boooooring.

HM fish and chips for tea tonight and then settle down to watch the England match. Hope my fav Rooney scores a couple for us!!!

    Have a good day all
  • Morning all,

Jet77 - good luck!!!! You are very brave (or is that daft...?!?!?) Hope it goes really well & as Mioliere says, you raise lots of money :)
Diva, I am a 1-person stampede to your place for the cheesecake, which I will be kidnapping & holding to ransom!!! (in fact, no I'll just kidnap & eat it). Bet the pate will taste good too - is it easy to make? Must be a very difficult decision for your friend - and a brave one. But to be able to make the most of the time you have left, rather than having a few more weeks/months but suffering the whole time.
N9eav, I was in a bit of a "can't be bothered" mood yesterday afternoon too - retail therapy definitely helps. I think our justice system is a joke sometimes too....
Dazi - good to see you posting yesterday -hope the new job is going well though :) Hopefully as you get more used to the new routine you'll find yourself having a bit more "you" time.
SisterCas, good luck to your DD for her gala - hope she enjoys it!
Welcome to dinkydido (and any other newbies later in the day). It's been years since I did a bootsale but remember people practically diving into the car while I was trying to unload!!!!

Helping at the Uni open day this morning. My mum's coming down her as her WM is making funny noises so she's going to use mine while being around for youngest DD (who is getting the bus to town with a friend - for the first time). Good job I will be occupied rather than sitting here worrying...
Something simple like SpagBol for dinner today as well I think, plus got some crusty rolls left from MrT yesterday, may turn them into garlic rolls to go with it.

Had my placement confirmed properly now - I am going to be doing assessments of & setting up care packages for adults (in a 'rural' area) so it means I will be out & about, and it's exactly one of the things I wanted to do, so am very pleased. I know it will be frustrating too, as the difference between assessing what people need & what can actually be provided (due to lack of resources/money) is quite wide... that will be the hard part of the job. But I am so excited!!!! Think I will be angling for a permanent job at the end of it....

(((((((((hugs)))))))))) to all needing them, and hope those feeling 'blurgh' have a snuggled-up day & start to feel better soon.

Am sure I'll be back later.
