and if I may say Martin Lewis has been the biggest disappointment ever before for giving advice about investing in a bank that was on the verge of collapse( in April the cash isa was one of the best buy, i only discovered recently that Iceland had lots of finacial problems well before april) and now for not campaigning for the icesavers depositors, but I guess he will not be very respected anymore( when I see him on telly now i just change channel:))0

I agree. Although its not his fault that it failed, the fact that he put all his weight behind it when it was trying to attract customers, now it has gone down the pan, he has a duty of care to help us get our money back.
Seems like he's gone to ground with his credibility in tatters. This is his chance to redeem himself but he seems to have missed the opportunity.0 -
For those of you who haven't seen it, a post from Martin on a different thread which may help to explain comments raised above:MSE_Martin wrote: »TV lobbying is good for extolling people to act; its less effortive for creating change in government.
In that sense, I put out a press release on the first day of Icesave lobbying for it to step in and end the uncertainty. It did and i very deliberately included a note commending this in my news of the world column (which is good for political issues) after all if they deliver I believe its important to acknowledge
At the moment we are calling the treasury and FSCS most days for updates and its tough to get anything back. We have also been working as you may see on Kaupthing Chaps payments, which is being successful.
We will not stop until we have all the info and can push it through. Yet as with Kaupthing - you have to time when you push. By ranting every day you negate any power or imput. If things aren't sorted and we don't have clarity soon you can rest assured I will be pushing as hard as I can to say "the govt promised X but hasn't delibered" - yet it is too early to do that.
And frankly at the moment, Icesave is forgotten for most mainstream journalists. We need a reason to get it on the front pages/headlines. Perhaps 7 Novermber will be the key day - 1 month on.

To the government he is just a bloke that runs a website. they aren't going to keep him updated every minute of the day. If anyone on here has something concrete and worth posting they will do.home_alone wrote: »Fully agree what is the point of posting on here if you have nothing new to add (like many are doing) it just causes confusion and in some cases bad tempers, wait and see it will not be long now.

I agree, he'll give us info when something positive is available. Give Martin a break! I've only just come back to the Icesave thread as for the last 2 weeks I've been glued to the thread about Kaupthing Edge and the lost CHAPS/BACS payments. My money has finally appeared in my linked account today. The vast majority on that thread have been positive of Martin's help and very supportive of each other in a very worrying 2 weeks. There are still a small number of transactions incomplete and ING have promised all will be transfered by end of this week. We have Martin and his team to thank for all their communications with ING and KE. He could exert more influence on this issue than with the ICESAVE issue which is in the hands of the Government/FSA and Financial Compensation Scheme.
Be patient (we the KE customers have been).0 -
VERY IMPORTANT
Sorry to interrupt your thread but ..................
Do you all know about the NEW ICESCAM SITE??
The web address is: www.icescam.com and it is set up for all ICESAVE customers to get their thoughts out in the open and interact with each other. THE MORE THE MERRIER AND WE ALL NEED TO STICK TOGETHER.
At the moment there are so many threads and so many forums.
Why don't you all sign up to it and then it will be so much easier than keep skipping from one forum to another. Some of you have already signed up and started joining in. Please take a look and register.
It also has all the latest news regarding our plight.0 -

.
Absolutely no evidence whatosever that it will "take years" - -frankly I'm getting sick of these whinging "oh woe where is Martin - yet he's lost all credibility I'll never visit this site again (if only!) etc " type posts etc - He's a journalist not your Guardian Angel.....0 -
Although its not his fault that it failed, the fact that he put all his weight behind it when it was trying to attract customers, now it has gone down the pan, he [Martin] has a duty of care to help us get our money back.
You MUST be joking. He didn't "put all his weight behind it", he wrote an entire page warning of the possible difficult circumstances. I find it literally disgusting that so many people aren't able to accept responsibility for their own actions, and revel in finding a scapegoat.
Talk about everyone throwing their toys out of the pram.
Stop acting like spoilt children. As soon as something goes wrong, let's all have a good moan, and bite the hand that feeds, eh?

Nauseating.
Now I wonder if you have any savings locked up in Icesave?
Can you not have just a little understanding of why people are angry? it is not as you say something that has gone wrong as though it's only a minor thing, some people have their life savings locked up in Icesave, money that they have worked hard for over many years, it's only natural that they are concerned and desperate for some help and advice.
Accusing people who are worried, of behaving like spoilt children is not really helping them at all IMHO, you might have a little more consideration if you found yourself in the same situation.0 -
Yeah, you should ask for your money back :sigh:
Sarcasm-hmmm nice.
No-one mentioned money-(apart from you) hey, check out the meaning of 'subscribe'
I have promoted this site for four years to my family, friends and colleagues-and they have signed up for [subscribed to] the weekly e-mail.
What's the point when the promise of updated Icesave information isn't even forthcoming! Icesave & Kaupthing News: UPDATED 3x A DAY
I was supportive of Martin initially, but he's not said a word in nearly 2 weeks now-so much for championing the consumers cause to the media!0
