hi mrscmr - i buy grey bags off ebay, a large roll of bubble wrap and stickers with my address to go on the back of each parcel incase it can't be delivered and has to be returned - all in all this costs me max £6.50 per month, and that would easily do 50 items or thereabouts
hi kaycee! good luck! one of the most random things i have sold was an avon eyeliner that i had used a few times - it coast me £4 new and some1 bought it for £6.95! god knows why!!!
hi soolin! - it would be soo handy to be able to use turbo lister & auctivia together - i am listing a few things for my mum just using turbo lister at the mo -but I might give auctivia a go when I am listing more of my own items!
so far today i have listed a grand total of 23 items and that includes a few relists! still loads more waiting to go!!! - sorry for any typos - i am typing as fast i can so i get can back to listing and dOn't want to 'waste' time checking my spelling lol!!**GOOD LUCK EVERYONE**0 -
:j good to see this thread is up and running again
and the ebayers are ebaying:D
I currently have 13 bids at £28:T
12 of them ending today
I am tryin to aim at having at least 50 items on ebay a week0 -
What's happened? Either the lighter evenings have made people notice what clutter they have around the house or we have all been spending too many pennies! :rotfl:
To the newbies - set yourself your own target/challenge. Mine's just high as I am very lazy and when I should have been eBaying, I have been buying stuff instead. I also have 3 kids who do everything possible to stop me from listing and an OH who disappears on business trips when I want to list. Anyway enough of my moaning as it is great to see activity on our thread.
Have now got 13 live listings and have 50 to just check before they go on. Would have more but still waiting for answer on TB/Auctiva functionality. Might just have to try it out to see if it works..
Auctiva is a nightmare - you have to set up a master profile which consists of item details, shipping, marketing, checkout - the tabs are at the top - all it means is you fill them in as you want each part to be on every listing. The advantages to Auctiva is that it is free, you can lots of piccies for no extra cost and you can have lovely templates that make your auctions more professional looking. The downsides are it is always crashing, your piccies don't often show on eBay, the revolving 'shop' of your items doesn't always work on eBay, you cannot get it to accept your listing, you can't open it to add any listings to and the fact that it is online. Apart from that, it's great.
Aggh I forgot about increased p&p - thanks Lexxx - is there anything on the RM site about the new pricing? Actually just found it...SP going up from £4.20 to £4.41 (up to 2kg) - unusual price. Even more reason to get items onto eBay asap as people always moan about the postage costs.
What's the best way of sending breakables, like moneyboxes etc.? Is it special delivery? Hope Soolin is around as can't be bothered to go through the eBay forum; too many horror stories there!
Catch up later.

China and glass is not covered unless it is sent special, but frankly for cheaper items it just makes the postage too expensive. I tend to use ordinary second class and take the risk but pack well, and then pack it some more. My late step father (a senior manager in the old post office) said that if you can't hold your package at arms length and drop it onto a concrete floor without the item breaking then you haven't packed it well enough!
Like someone said earlier, if you use a lot of smaller stamps make sure you buy them in bulk this week as the large letter ones in particular are going up heaps but if you buy them now you can still use them afterwards. I have probably spent a couple of hundred pounds on books of stamps and for smaller items I will stamp them myself and just take them to the sorting office with a certificate of posting and get that as a receipt.
My OH may be out of work for good later this year so I am currently listing everything that isn't nailed down to have a little nest egg for treats so we don't have to have a msierable time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks Soolin. Will double/triple package and go with 1st/2nd class as SD would cost more than the item!
Hope everything works out ok for you with OH and work. I too am trying to list everything but need to speed up otherwise I shall still be saying this next year.

Do you think good quality costume jewellry sells? i mean like butler & wilson and pilgrim?
What size bags / packets do you buy? a range of sizes?

thanks for the welcomes and advice!
I have just listed 8 items for the week (well 10 days, when that runs out I will relist)...although I feel the need to rummage around for other things to get on ebay now!
I have also put my figure in my signature of what items I sold today on ebay. I wonder how long it will take me to make a grand!?!September 2011 Bride

Good luck Kaycee
I have managed to list 5 items so far... and have another 4 items waiting to be uploaded on turbolister. Still waiting for my items to end tonight, too. There's bound to be one or two that don't sell so I will relist them to make my 10-a-week target0 -

Hey BB, I think you have done enough for a while. Think of all that listing you have been doing. Anyway I think perhaps the motivation bug sticks onto one of us and then moves on to another person. I'm hoping it comes my way again soon..although I am very pleased with my progress. Just sorting out another table load of stuff ready for tomorrow.
mrscmr, check around your house first for packaging. I've used strong black bags before, turned Special Delivery bags inside out, reused bubble envelopes and boxes. You can use shredded paper for filling and protection. I also put a comment on my listing about reusing packaging and therefore keeping the postage costs down.
Bags..if you mean for clothes, I buy mine off eBay and a range of sizes (3 types). I buy blue ones.
Anything sells on eBay. If you click on completed listings and put in the name/type of jewellery, you should get an idea of prices etc.
Kaycee10, good luck on raising £1k! Would be great if you found one item that made you a grand. Several years ago my OH had a 1960s toy gun. It was in a terrible state and the box was falling apart and smelt. It sold for about £350. Shame I just have carp now that will fetch pennies rather than pounds.
Sending out lots of motivation..
