I've just listed 20 books on GreenMetropolis.

Is it a good site to use for selling books?

    Hi Floxxie
I've been selling my girls Next clothing that doesn't fit any more and have not done too bad on those, January seems to be OK, things that don't sell I tend to leave for a cheap listing day.
Will be getting serious and listing lots in a week and a half when DD2 goes to Nursery 5 afternoons and DD1 goes full time school in Reception class, she is only doing half day at the moment until 19th, then I'll just have DD3 here and will get her to sleep so I can get things uploaded to Turbolister (she's 8 months). I'm looking forward to having a bit of time to get on while the eldest two are out of the house.
How old is your little one? It's hard going from having a salary to having nothing coming in but the little bit of CTC and Child Benefit, I can't get a evening or weekend job because my OH works shifts and two weekends a month so Ebay is my only source of income which is why I went Self-Employed as I buy wholesale to resell.

I've heard Next girls clothes do well but I have no girls and the boys stuff doesn't do as well - tends to not be in as good a condition!

I have DS1 8, DS2 3 and DS3 9 months and I also can't get a job as OH works 9-5 and then hours as required so he tends to come home between 8 and 11pm at night. DS3 has now given up on his morning nap when DS2 is at playschool and when he goes to sleep in the afternoon I have to do the school run. In the evening I am meant to study for my degree but only if the boys are in bed and recently DS3 doesn't want to sleep.

And as you say, it is really hard to have no salary coming in. Had a look at my bank account and was gutted - you get so used to money coming in for years and then nothing. So I really do have to make a go of this. Will spend this year dealing with my stuff and then decide what I can do then.

Anyway enough moaning, this is not helping my listing!!
What do you sell tmd? Clothing?

Have posted on your other thread ;)

GreenMet is great for those books that you aren't going to sell on Amazon. You get your £3.00 and pay for the postage out of it. (That's for people who haven't used the site before)

Then be prepared to wait for ages for a sale. Some months I can selling nothing but other months 5/6 books. It just depends how many of the same book is on there are you wait in queue to sell yours.

However as I keep on telling myself, if it's not on there it's not going to sell, and GreenMet keep the books ont here indefinitely, unlike Amazon.

  • ok i have taken tonnes of pics and got them saved on my pc so now just need to get started on turbo lister! I only have 5 things on at the mo so need to get a move on!

has anyone seen the 'well worn' items on ebay? a friend told me about it and I didn't believe her until i took a look myself! I wonder would my used tights and worn shoes sell so well? Somehow I don't think so!

Has anyone given it a go?

Also any suggestions on best place to list cds? After reading prev posts I think play.com could be best until the end of the month anyway!:rotfl:

    Wish me luck...:T

In my rush to sell things last month, I mistakenly sent the wrong item (DVD player) to the wrong buyer, so I am hopefully in the process of getting it sorted out.

The wrong person has responded to my email and will forward it on to the right person.

I've had to part with some of my gains (£15) which included a little extra for the inconvenience.
I hope it all goes well, because I'll have to refund the buyer £49.

I've got 4 things ending today, one of them is LCD telly which I hope to get over £100 for.

I made a list yesterday of things to sell that are just gathering dust and it currently stands at 79 items.

I've taken photos of 35 items so far and will be listing 20 items today.

buddiebabe that is an impressive listing amount especially as you've not been well!

credit_crunch, I'd heard about the well used items - it can also extend to underwear!! I have a box of things that could go on but feel really wierd about the people who buy this stuff. Apparently they get off on it. Not sure how I feel about that - probably being a complete prude- I mean people could be having similar thoughts about anything I sell, which I won't dwell on as I shall never put anything up for sale again otherwise :rotfl:

For CDs I'm not sure myself. Did check out the price they would pay at musicmagpie so could just sell everything to them or I could list the ones that would reach over £1 on Play or Amazon (or both). Didn't come to a conclusion so they are sat in large piles in the living room. Has anyone got any experience of selling CDs?

  • floxxie I too feel that i would rather not sell those sort of items so maybe we are becoming prudes in our old age (im 21 btw lol!!!!) - but I did see a pair of worn tights with bids of £31 so maybe it is something I will consider if times get tougher lol!!!:rotfl:

I suppose we shouldn't knock it until we have tried it ha ha!!! I would be able to buy both wii fit & guitar hero a lot sooner!!!

I am goin to take a wee look at that magpie site & play.com and sum each of them up - if I manage to get anything soldwithin the next wee while for a decent amount I will post back!
