Have to apologise to arthurdick as I thought that eBay would not bother with cheap listing days - sorry arthurdick - guess eBay are suffering from their fee changes and realising that the smaller sellers run eBay!
Just had a quick look at one of the eBay calculators (Google ebay fees calculator uk) - I didn't put in the postage part but regardless, if you listed and sold an item at £0.99 it would cost:
insertion fees - £0.10
final value fee - £0.09
Paypal fees - £0.23
Profit £0.99-£0.42 = £0.57!
Without the insertion fee = £0.67 profit
Just to make you aware of the risk of 99p listings (but remember you might make a few pence on postage)

morning floxxie......you aint got to apologise to me.....its ok ...............can i just say, that insertion fees, for books & mags/comics is only 5p.....ok, it dont save a lot, but if you are listing 100's of items per month, it saves half.......its the paypal fees that annoy me....well to tell the truth, its ebay forcing you to use paypal.......
Corduroy pillows are making headlines! Back home in London now after 27years wait! Duvet know it's Christmas, not original, it's a cover.0 -
Re Paypal fees - I think I might put a sweetener in my listing along the lines of 'xp refunded for stamp costs when payment made by cheque or postal order'
Not sure how much a stamp costs these days for the sending of a cheque - anybody have any ideas? It might persuade a few people to pay by cheque but eBay and Paypal have done a good job of making people paranoid about not paying by Paypal.
I'm going to run a magazine listing from Monday - would love to do some over the weekend but still have plenty to keep me going. I'm a little behind today as little one is ill and I haven't had the opportunity to check listings to confirm volume but hopefully by Friday I shall have hit my target of 70.
Hope everybody is doing ok. Don't panic if you are behind - plenty of time yet. And well doen on those with bids, that is what keeps me going!

I'm only down to list 1 item a day and i'm already behind  so will be making up for it later by listing 3 items. I've already got 11 watchers on the item I listed on Monday, I'm just hoping all 11 bid and aren't just watching the item to find out how much it sells for.

Wow larlie1983!!!! 11 watchers, thats really good, there must be a few buyers in there.
I got 2 people watching one of my items!!!
Very excited, even got an email from one of the watchers:j
I have been taking more pics today and measuring and writing descriptions and tonight when i get back from the gym, i will list at least another 7 if not more.:T0 -
I have sold 8 items today, 4 have already paid!!! I am now trying to package up - I hate it so much!!!Mammy to 3 gorgeous children.0

Ha, ha I hate the packaging bit as well but isn't it lovely when the packages have gone and you have some cash and space?!
Just trying to work out how many weeks/days left and what we could focus on for particular weeks to help give direction.I know that some people will not have the things to list or who are happier just listing as they come across items but for those who need it, how about:
week 1 10-19: start of the challenge - listing anything.
week 2 20-26: magazine week
week 3 27-2: book week
week 4 3-9: clothes week
Would anybody like to suggest another category to from week 2 as I think I shall lose the plot if I had to list magazines all week!

Hi
Great idea, is it OK to join in if it's not too late? I would like to list minimum 3 items a day, I've listed 10 tonight and am hoping to do another one or two now.
I've been listing with BIN for the last few weeks but don't seem to be selling too much, when I listed with 99p starts auction style things were only selling for 99p so I kind of got disheartened at selling things so cheaply.

Of course you can join - it is NEVER too late to start getting rid of the clutter!
Will add your name and target to the first page.
Agree it is a gamble putting on at 99p - sometimes it pays off. With the free inseriton this weekend for 99p or less, it won't hurt the pockets so much.
Aren't BINs 40p now?
Anyway welcome.

Thanks Floxxie
Just added another 2 items. Yes BIN are now 40p but can list them for 30 days. I'm going to do some Auctions with BIN's for the next few days, the two I just did I did like that one was 15p and one was 20p to list for 10 days.
I would have got a few more done tonight but my eldest daughter wasn't well and slept this afternoon so she was up until 10.15pm.Sealed Pot Challenge #0160 -
I think I'll join if that's ok?
I've been meaning to get rid of some books/dvds. I won't be able to do 1 a day, maybe 2-3 a week lol. I got rid of some clutter when I moved in lol. I'm actually listing something at the minute, it has 2 bids and 12 people watching it! Ends on Saturday... lets hope it sells for a good price!0
