  • Got 5 items on Turbolister for tonight, going to do a few more in a minute.

What sort of things are you all selling? I have clothing, toys, books, some DVD's and that sort of thing.

I haven't decided if I'm going to do the free listing days this weekend as I'd be gutted to sell things for 99p as I really need the money, don't want to be giving stuff away.

You only have to START the bidding at 99p or less so you might (hopefully) still sell for more:D I am going to list dvd's, books (or maybe put these on GM) and trinket/ornament type items I think

Thanks, so I would say if you don't need the cash quickly it is worth it but for a fast buck amazon or ebay?

if you ses my posts on the ebay thread you will see I sell quite a few books. I buy large amounts and then list them in various places depending on the type and current prices. The bulk of my stock is on Amazon but I also list attention grabbing ones on ebay and duplicate list a few on greenmet as well. Earlier thi syera for instance I had a very odd little gambling book from the 1920s in rather a tatty condition, it sat on Amazon at £10 for ages and then I listed it on ebay on a cheap listing day and the bidding pushed it too nearly £40.

Often what sells on Amazon is no good for ebay, but what sells on Ebay is no good for Amazon. I also charity shop around a third of each lot I buy as not being suitable for online sale anywhere.

in answer to your question, i think it is, ok, to start with, its slow, but thats because your books are placed in order, for example, if you put a book on there, and there are already 25 of the exact same book on there, you have to wait until those are sold, then yours goes on..(i think thats how it works anyway )......i listed about 100 books on there a couple of months ago, i only sold about 8 books in the first 2 months, but, over the last few days, i have nearly doubled that......its a very handy place to sell books, if they are just ordinary books, ie, not rare or very collectable.......if you can just list them on there, and are in no hurry to get your hands on the money, its ideal.....anyway, thats just my opinion, i may be totally wrong ?...but it works for me ;).....the better collectable sought after books, are worth putting on ebay, once a bidding war starts, you are quids in.........on.greenmet , all books sell for around £3, .....but, to declutter and earn money, its perfect.....;)....hope that helps a bit

Good evening everybody and welcome to the newbies - will add your names to the first page at some point tonight.

And thank you for popping over Soolin - who can mostly be found on the eBay etc. board and who is a mine of knowledge.

Just to reiterate- this challenge is about clearing your clutter and hopefully making some cash along the way. I have spent a long time not listing on eBay because I thought it wouldn't be worth the hassle but unless your item is somewhere for sale you will never know and it will still be taking up the space under the stairs, the bed, on the shelf etc.

There is a free insertion weekend for listing items 99p and under. If you feel that is all your item is worth, then I would definitely go for it and hopefully you'll make more than you thought.

Places like Amazon and GreenMet allow you to put your items on there without being charged upfront and generally without having multiple sales coming all at once! I have sold on both places for a few years and have to say that Amazon is pretty tough on its charges but at least you have a lot of people looking!GreenMet I tend to have a spate of sales - I have done well on Terry Pratchett and David Eddings books BUT I literally made pennies after the postage was taken off the £3 so sometimes eBay is worth the hassle!

I'm still on target but realised today that I need to have 90 items listed by Sunday as I started on Friday 10 so I need to get a move on!

Hope everybody has a busy weekend listing. Hopefully somebody will come up with the wierdest thing listed - just describe it if you don't want us looking for it?!

Finally, proposing a magazine listing week next week (if you have any) - hope there are some takers as I am not looking forward to it.

  • Wow I can't believe how well everyone is doing. Think I might follow Floxxie's idea about having a magazine listing week next week. I only have a few and i'm not sure if they are worth anything but will give it ago.

Ooh please join me. I thought that if I get through the magazine listing then any type of listing after that will be sooooo easy!
