I had panics about packaging stuff up - but I just bought some packs of different sized jiffy bags (quite cheap from Poundstretcher), for books, CDs etc. I was really worried about packaging up shoes sold on ebay as I didn't have any shoe boxes. I ended up taking Christmas decorations out of their boxes and using those, then wrapping in brown paper. Haven't had any complaints.....!

For packaging - have a search in the Yellow Pages etc. for packaging companies. I use one that doesn't charge VAT if I pay by cash - it is so cheap even compared to Poundstretcher. Haven't needed to go there for over a year so I hope it is still going when I have to get some supplies next week! :rotfl:

Haven't managed to list anything tonight - had guests over but will catch up tomorrow!

  • So how are we all doing? I listed about 10 things on Turbolister last night ready to upload, not sure when to list them, I normally like to do things in the evening for 7 days but I don't think I've ever sold anything on a Saturday evening before so not sure what to do.

I think I'll do 5, 7 and 10 day auctions, will list 5 and 10 day ones tonight and do 7 and 10 day ones tomorrow.

I have so much more stuff I could list if I had a bit more time, I have the 3 kids on my own today so not going to be able to get as much done as I'd like.

I buy my mailing bags from Ebay and buy padded envelopes and normal envelopes from Poundland, they also sell bubblewrap and brown paper.

Good luck everyone with your listings.

  • oooooh just sold another cd - and for more than I paid for it new! lol
    (I obviously have a minority musical taste!):rotfl:

I have made up a box of packing stuff for ebay items, and will trott off to poundland for the cd wrappping. May have a look in hmv too. (for packing purposes only). Might also wander down to the cd guy in the market to see if he buys....

Apart from that - its such a lovely day that I might enjoy the sun and do my ebay listings tonight.

    have a good day ebaying.....LHB
  • Sorry - should have said - I bought a mixed pack of mailing bags off ebay at £4.99 for 50. My sales have been mainly clothes and they are a good way of sending them.

Im also on my own with the 3 children today - dh is working.
Recklessly we agreed to eldest - who is 8 - going to eurodisney with her brownie pack in 18 months, so need to pay for it. She has to do extra chores for the £5 per week that SHE needs to earn (and we need to do likewise to pay her):rotfl:

good luck with the appointment too_much_debt - hope all goes well for you. Thanks Floxxie and longhot bath for advice about buying packing materials. I have 20 'active' items on ebay - hoping to get some more things photographed before it gets too dark. Well done everyone so far!!!

I've had to abandon this challenge for a few days, will get back into it tomorrow. Just a thought on packaging tho - I've always saved jiffybags, even before I started selling on Amazon, but when I first got into all the dfw stuff, someone was giving away lots of packaging on freecycle - I took one box of it that somebody else didn't want, and the only thing I've ever had to actually buy is labels and sellotape!

    Hope everyone's doing well.

    Hi all

I've just sat and listed 22 DVDs on Amazon so along with the 12 books I put on GreenMetropolis the other day that is 34 things listed which I think beats my target of 5 a day so far!! I was able to list some of the DVDs as new ones as they are still in the polythene wrapping and never watched!! Now I'm beginning to understand why I am in so much debt!!! So many books and DVDs never read or watched!!!

Now just got to wait and hope they sell soon as I want rid and the money will be helpful!!
