An Old Style gesture of support for Martin

Just watched the interview thanks to the link posted (sorry op cant remember who you are..:-)) anyway I just wanted to add that Martin has peoples best interests at heart and that shines through whenever he makes an appearance. The inteviewer was the one who looked foolish ...he couldnt even pronounce the web address and his lack of research showed. I think Martin can hold his head up high as he is the only person I have seen who gives sound advice that applys to all people in difficult times.

I'm sure we could make it fit Stephen - and then of course we could chop up the rest of him for casserole later on! (waste-not, want-not Old-Stylers! LOL!). As you're from Bristol too, maybe we could hand it out to those poor brainwashed souls who I understand are Q-ing outside the overpriced food shops in [strike]Broadmead[/strike], [strike]Merchant's Landing[/strike], sorry - "Cabot CIRCUS".....
I DO venture out of the OS board from time to time and have been disgusted at some of the posts directed at Martin in the last few days - so much so that I have broken my own rule and retaliated a couple of times! (FE takes a deep breath and thinks calming thoughts......).
Martin himself has started a thread on the Savings board so that people can have a go at him if they want to, without cluttering up the board any more - but strangely enough his detractors have been very few in comparison with his supporters! :T
I can't watch the interview - I'm trying to get my blood-pressure DOWN at the moment (hence the deep breaths & calming thoughts!) and I just know that it would have the opposite effect... but I'll happily join in a boycott of Channel 4!!!! (tongue in cheek here - OK! - although I've found them generally to be increasingly naff over the years......), and re-iterate my support of Martin here....
:money: Martin, we appreciate you and all you have done to help us save, make us more savvy, and set up this wonderful site where we can get together with new friends and help each other through life's trials and tribulations.
Long may you keep up the good work!

Just watched the interview. Chin up Martin, you and the team are doing a grand job, I can't put it any better than everyone before me has really. Thanks!
I'm off now to claim my free starbucks with the coupon from the Guardian, cheers for the heads up about that too!:money:0 -
Thanks Martin, we've always looked here for your advice.
I'm sorry for those who MIGHT lose out, but its certainly not Martins fault. Does no-one remember the old saying about not putting all your eggs in one basket??July Win: Nokia 58000 -
I would also like to add my support for Martin.
I have "lurked" for over two years before finally posting a couple of months ago - however, all my workmates now know about MSE and "Martins' site". I have been telling them for ages that "Frugal is the new Chic", though I am sure they just think I'm a bit nuts!! :rotfl:
Thanks to Martin and this site:money: , I am a far more "savvy" shopper; have cut my food shopping bill right down; stocked up my cupboards; switched energy suppliers and am far more financially aware.
Martin, we all love you :iloveyou: - don't let the b***ard's grind you down!

I've just added my support over on the savings thread. This site has seen me through turbulent times and come out the other side. Yes it's been horrible this week [I'm an Ice Save and a Kaupthing saver] but I'm a great big lummox and can make/take responsibility for all my own decisions thank you very much. Perhaps the team and Martin need some old style cakes to cheer them all up...cake always works for me:D

Did anyone understand why the solicitor put all that money into one accountI thought that was one of the basic rules of investment - spread the risk around

I have watched the interview.
I find the reaction on here is really rather hysterical, the way people were talking I was expecting him to be publically flogged.
The interviewer did his job and Martin did his.
And to anyone that bothered to watch rather than just joining the baying mob screaming about the unfairness of it, despite merrily telling us I haven't seen it and don't intend to, Martin came out of it reputation intact.
It wasn't unfair, it wasn't a character assassination, it was just an interview and Martin set the record straight quite eloquently while also giving some up to date advice to people affected.
I find it somewhat ironic that on a website were the overriding message is inform yourself. People are posting about how terrible it is without having watched it.*Make every day Caturday*0 -
Great site, Martin, thought your response was good, you came out of the interview well, and Jon Snow a little too aggressive, maybe trying to keep up with Paxman.0

I'd like to add my support to Martin and his team who provide an enormous amount of information on so many topics, My husband and I have spread our cash around and are suffering the Kaupthing Edge 'money in the ether scenario' and have Icesave money locked out at present, but this Forum gives more information than anywhere else and the comfort of 'a problem shared is .......' etc. Everybody has to make their own decisions and weigh up any risk and we all want to get the best deal we can - these are unprecedented times. I fail to see why people blame Martin though it is often evident that people clearly don't read information properly.Thank you and keep up the good work Martin and team, we value you greatly.0
