Hi all,
newbie of R&R, have few questions regarding the policy and wonder if anyone can answer my Qs. Please bear with me.
1. Can tesco refuse a R&R for goods that has a price sticker on it? ( such as meat.) My thought is that although SEL indicates a different and cheaper price in per Kg/Lb, wouldn't Tesco CS argue that customer have agreed with the final price on the sticker and thus not liable for R&R policy?
2. On many occasions, I couldn't find any SELs. I think this might be Tesco is unable to update their til system, so that they just takes the SEL off to avoid any R&R. If this is the case, then I'm still being overcharged, aren't I? is there anything I can do?
many thanks.0 -

if an item is labelled individually (just like the old days eh?), then i would have thought common sense prevails here and 'you get what you pay for'
regardless of laws or not, if someone takes a £4.99 labelled chicken to the checkout and then moans they're charged £4.99 for it, that person has to be a few sandwiches short of a picnic :-(
edit - its a blatant abuse of the policy that'll get it stopped for everyone :-(cybervic wrote:2. On many occasions, I couldn't find any SELs. no SEL and no price on the item, how can they possibly overcharge you??
obviously, you want the item and have some idea of its value or you wouldn't buy the unpriced item. this is an instance where you ASK for the price, or don't purchase it. it probably is tescos protecting themselves and who can blame them?money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Totally wrong. If the price on the SEL is lower than the price on the packet, Tesco must sell for the lower price (i.e. the SEL). For example: 4 pack of Chicken Breast - SEL £3.99 per Kg. Sticker £4.99 per Kg. Tesco must charge the SEL price per kg, otherwise it's breaking The Consumer Protection Act - giving misleading price indications. Common sense and the Law do prevail here - if Tesco puts up a shelf label stating a lower price, they should charge that lower price (that's common sense).
To the poster you were replying to: If the SEL shows a lower price (including per kg/lb) than the sticker on the product, you should be charged at the lower price. If you are not, you are entitled to a full refund and get to keep the item (due to Tesco's nationally publicised policy on R&R).In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

quite right. i got some beef sel £5.98 per kilo charged £6.22 per kilo.
even though the price was on the packet, it was still wrong as it was calculated using £6.22 per kilo, thus making the meat more expensive.
went to cs and got a full r+r.:snow_laug :j0 -

Wise words Rufus....thank you! Its so much easier when you have knowledge of the law on your side!0 -
I purchased a blouse on Friday that had been reduced to £1. I used the self-service till and scanned the original barcode, not the yellow £1 reduced barcode by mistake. Today, I realised I had been overcharged. I took the blouse back. The CS refunded me the £3.50 I had paid, and then asked if I had used self-service. I said I had (she could obviously tell that from the receipt). She then told me that as I had used the self-service till and scanned the wrong barcode, it was not an overprice, as it was my fault. She then went on to say, as she had already processed the refund, there was nothing she could do anyway. She was very pleasant, knows me, as I am in there all the time.
So, beware, if you use a self-service till, and try to obtain an R&R, you may find you have a problem.0 -
I finally got my first R&R today! Yah! 2 x Healty Living Mini Chicken Fillets. CS woman was very nice and i had no problems like on thursday! Very very happy, may only be a small R&R but 'every little helps'!!!
