I purchased a book from there on 21st March. As yet I have not received it. I went to contact customer support today, but when you go to the website I just get the message saying "Unfortunately, Sell Student Stuff.com is no longer operating. Further information will follow shortly"

I have no doubt that I will not see my money again, nor receive the book! I'm just glad it only cost me £8!!! I have emailed Consumer Direct, but I'm not holding my breath!

I haven't heard anything back from Consumer Direct - I'm going to give them a call tomorrow.

I got an email back from Consumer Direct within a couple of hours. They advised me about a voluntary visa debit chargeback scheme, but said I might have a struggle with the bank because not all the staff will know about it!

Thats all they said really. It was helpful to be told I might have a chance to get my money back!

I can't believe that this website has gone down, I love it. I got some fabulous deals from there that I could never have found elsewhere!
  • I have been waiting for payment since February and contacted Trading Standards, lo and behold this weekend they have gone under. They have become worse and worse since they diversified out from just books. They owe me £33!!

i am so peeved off because this cowboy company owes me money too for boks i sold and to make matters worse i cant even remember how much...somewhere in the region of £15-£20. i phoned up consumerdirect as advised from the other posts and they gave me companies house phone number and told me to check if sell student stuff is in adimistration. so i did that and guess what...the company is still active. confused? me too.

She gave me the company address, a new one to add to the growing list:

    Sell Student Books.com Ltd
    St. Georges House
    212-219 Chester Road
    Manchester
    M15 4JE

I dont know what to to for the best now. The consumerdirect lady told me to send the company a letter by registered mail telling them to put me on the creditors list and that i would like to have my money. whether or not they'll give a monkeys is another question. and which address to send it too? sending a letter to every single one of there "addresses" is gone make me even more broke. ahhhhhhhh. i have to resign myself to the fact that my £20 quid is gone

Looks like it is again one of those websites which are there to target innocent people and stealing their money.

    Hi all,

Just joined today, my first post on here. I've meaning to chase these lot up they owe about £16 for a book I sold, paid £7.00 for recorded delivery. what a rip off...rather stick to amazon/ebay. As soon I read complaints I pulled off the rest of my books from there. Just checked today they no longer online :mad:They have my bank details...they can't do much with my details can they?? cos i doubt ill get my money back.

  • Hiya evry1,

1st time posting. I did a google search about SSS.com stealing money. I am so angry! I have sold a lot of books on their website and it seemed fine. I wasn't keeping up-to-date with payments because I was busy with other things, and although I sent them many messages from my account about this (with only a random reply saying they had alot of correspondence to deal with and would get back to me ASAP). I just (naively) assumed the money would be paid in eventually. A few months back, however, after selling another book, I thought I would check to see if they had finally paid the money for all the books I had sold into my account. I realised they had not paid me for a large number of the books.

Anyway, I know I'm rabbling about it all, but I'm just so angry!!! ):-(
I sent Consumer Direct an email through their website. I agree with manwood: if we all contact them that, it will strengthen our case, and they will be more likely to act on it.

It says Selling Student Stuff.com is no longer operating.

did you get your cash before they closed?

Good luck getting your money from them

Is there any official customer support for sellstudentstuff? I still haven't received my money... but I did input my bank details AFTER the book was sold.

Now the website is closed... and probably the company is going defuncted.... .it's been about 3-4 months and I still haven't received my money....

Where can we go to get further help to reclaim our money that is rightfully ours?
