Well had a thouroughly annoying and upsetting hour so I have come back to MFW to cheer myself up!!

I was a bit scared if I'm honest biking back in the dark but it was going ok until a man started having a go at me for biking about 10 metres over private property  - I pointed out there was a public footpath sign that pointed down there and that he should make it more obvious it is private property by putting an obvious sign up in the area! I also pointed out that I was shown this gate by the previous owners of my house five years ago and nobody had ever pointed it out before. I actually don't have a problem if it is private property I can go a different way if neccessary I just have a problem with a lone female being approached on a dark lane and herranged for a obviously trivial and unintentional mistake! What a stupid b******! Some people just like scaring other people it makes them feel powerful I guess. Could start mentioning relationship between the people that need to feel powerful and the size of their nether regions but that would be stooping far too low!:rotfl:

Anyway thought I'd call on my mate to let out my anger and instead she has imparted that she is splitting up from her husband as we speak  and obviously I just left them to it. Kind of makes my petty argument seem like nothing and I should be really gratefull for Mr earth  , who makes the daily toil worthwhile!

Right - positive thoughts! I'm going to clean up a bit and then work on my website!

Was this the first time the chap had been there when you've headed home? I'm sure he won't be thinking about it anymore so try not to let it fester, but I fully concur that approaching a woman in this manner is not appropriate. Hopefully it won't ever happen again so close to home.

Regarding your friend, I think this is simply "behind closed doors" typical of most Brits that keep these issues private, but hopefully she'll contact you once initial situation resolves itself because that is generally the time people will then discuss it and she may well appreciate you being "around" if appropriate.

Hope it has been a fruitful evening thereafter?

Well I have had a good productive few days (probably helped by not reading the posts for a few days - I've actually done something instead!:rotfl: )

    Income
Got all the essentials done at work and am above water for the moment!
Completed two tutorings on Thursday and got new customers booked in for Monday and Tuesday. Worked my shift in the supermarket last night but on paid holiday today :j

    Savings
A hair group voucher I sent months ago finally worked and a salon phoned me and I've arranged a free haircut for my messy birds nest next week :j

We are going to glasgow for a party tonight, but instead of shelling out for a hotel we are staying in a nephews student flat  at no cost! I've also bought a picnic of reduced items from work last night - bucket load of sushi anyone?

I have applied for a fixed rate savings account as I have quite a bit sat in a now poor paying current account and don't want to waste the opportunity to fix it away whilst my tracker mortgage reduces!

My mates' ok I think, I will just let her come to me, but I have been paying Mr Earth plenty of attention, I don't want him to get roving eyes! Looking forward to a good night out with him later :smileyhea .

Still haven't been to the bank to overpay for November, but I'll get round to that soon - hopefully next weekend.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

What a depressing day, how horrible. I'm a cyclist and I've found that a lot of people have a real problem with us. I really don't know why. Sounds like you've bounced back quickly though

 Not sure what to do about overpayments now as we have a BR tracker, and if I overpay I am gettig rid of debts at about 4%, and if I save I can still save at around 6%. So I think I should just save every month instead of overpaying?

But, the positives of overpaying are at the moment I can overpay by £1000 per month with no fee. If i save up a large lump sum, at some point I may have to pay a redemption fee to pay it off the mortgage. Also I find that overpaying the mortgage is very motivating.

Any advice? What is everyone else doing?

We had a nice weekend in Glasgow and although I didn't do anything to make money for my OP pot, we didn't spend that much either.

The student house we stayed in was actually quite nice, just a bit dusty!

Feeling very hungover now and have no get up and go at all! Need to make a list to motivate myself - the sooner I get it done the sooner I can relax!

    - Organise tutoring for the week.
    - Scan in some photographs for dads birthday album.

On a course tomorrow so might use the extra time in the morning to go swimming before the course- hopefully my get up and go will have returned by then :D

Earthgirl I've been reading in shock and amazement to how much your putting in to your overpayments / savings.

At what point to you think enough is enough, like the 3+ jobs for example, and enjoy a nice warm house. Do you ever feel like your pushing yourself to far?

I've just started putting things in place to allow me to make overpayments however wouldn't be prepared to go as far as you have! It does make my efforts look small fry LOL!

I think its importnat to remember the big picture - as I said in my first post, our health and marriage come first, as does our business, before the overpayments, so even if it takes a bit out of our OP pot, I still do things with my OH and go swimming / biking etc. to keep fit.

It quite good that my OH balances me out - I think I have quite an obsessive personality! He makes me see sense (e.g. switching the heating on!).

I think the thing with overpayments is even a little goes a long way. I don't find the extra jobs or the allotment that hard and I don't have kids. I really don't know how people do it with kids!

Today I managed a couple of tutorings after my course and having a lazy cuddle on sofa now! Enjoy the evening!
