smlsave - look out for the roadshow they do. Last year we went to the one near us and they had activities for my boys to do, and were also giving away more seeds then. Might be an option for you if there is one near you.0

Thanks for reading wilchild, hope you weren't too bored:rotfl: I know most of the stuff is not really important to others, but it keeps me motivated.
Are you overpaying?
Not much to report here, have spent my £1 bufget on milk, and another pound on UHT milk for the builders, and 25p on a big reduced sponge cake. So I am officially over grocery budget, but I think milk is essential vitamin wise when pg, and the builders drink all mine .
Anyway tomorrow I have a free period and some time after school, so I plan to finish my pay forms. A little bit of banking and sorting to do,and then relaxing tonight.:j15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Phase 1 - Emergency Fund - Complete :j
Phase 2 - £20,000 Mortgage Fund - Underway0 -
I couldn't sleep in this morning so I got up early and did some banking and sorting out!
My cheques had cleared, so I paid into my isa rather than overpaying this month, and I managed £2,500 :jthis month. This brings my overall mortgage debt - savings to £24,320!:j
At this rate I could be mortgage free within a year, but I will of course not be able to due to being on maternity, but afterwards, on return to work, it shouldn't take that long.
I have been working hard and feeling exhausted lately, but everything is on track, and should be able to cross more off my list soon. To add to the list, I need to plant my dig in seeds, think of ways to reduce our electricty bill, and have a chat to oh about this.
Yesterday, oh said I was wierd as I complained that the builders are using almost a pint of milk a day and a bag of sugar a week, and 200 tea bags in two weeks! Anyway I didn't really mind about him thinking I am wierd about this, but then we were stood in the dining room, and he flicked the lights on in the kitchen, and immediately came back out of the kitchen and closed the door behind him:eek: leaving the light on in a room he had no intention of even going in! He says he thinks the house is more welcoming with all the lights on even if we are not in the rooms! Every night I go around turning all the lights off, tv off when hes not watching it, and it really winds me up.
I was really upset yesterday, and haven't had chance to discuss it with him, but it really underlines for me the massive difference in our priorities and goals. I know I can be a bit OTT, but there has to be a happy medium!
So to do list looks like this!
- small business work
- finish off banking tasks
- plant dig in seeds
- think of ways to reduce energy use
- do exercises (keep forgetting!)
Work:
- Hand in pay forms
- year 9 SOW
-Chase assessment marks from other teachers, and SOW from student teacher15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

How many builders have you got? That might influence my decision on if you are being tight or not.
I know what you mean about DH's and electric. Mine is not quite that bad, but he has realised since we bought the OWL and he can see the pennies gradually adding up that it is better in our pocket than with the energy company. I don't know if something similar might help. My hubbie is really into little gadgets.
Well done on the mortgage. It is coming down really quickly. I think you have a great reason for not paying it all off this year now. At least the end is in sight once you do get back to work. You will definitely have paid it off before bump reaches school age. I would have loved to do this if i was still working but then again, things have worked out ok for us.0 -
My DH is the same if it's any help! He leaves everything on...grr.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
% of house owned/% of mortgage paid off. July 25 - 38.82%/31.66%

I've never known people who go through sugar like builders. I think they have about 10 teaspoons in each cup of tea. YUUUUUCK. They also, generally, like it really strong.
To be honest I drink about 2 pints of milk per day myself in coffee and tea:o
As for turning lights off. My DH thinks he's great at turning lights off but he isn't;) I do like to have lamps on in rooms were I'm not actually sitting in them in the evening and the under pelmet lights in the kitchen too. Just makes the hous feel nice. So I suppose I'm like your OH..... all energy saving light bulbs however....:cool:0 -
Thanks everyone, I know I can be a bit over the top sometimes and there is a happy medium somewhere, we just haven't found it yet!
OH also doesn't like the soapnuts I bought for the laundry, but hopefully will give them another try. I have also had to add wine into the budget, £200/year estimate, as OH has ordered a 48 bottle wine cooler for the new kitchenDon't want to winge but his tailor came around yesterday and delivered his handmade suit!! We are just so different - its hard to see how we can rub along really!
