Last night I went out for a meal for a friends Bday and spent about £12.50, but it was lovely, and I don't get to see my old school friends very often! I am going to a party tonight, but will be drinking tap water so no spend there.
Today I managed to get one small and one large nappy bin for £3.50, I returned the dye bought for £3, so thats another 50p deficit to my kitty - but I have a £10 cash back due at the end of the month, so I just need to watch out for one more mystery shop or cash back opportunity to cover this.
Some lovely news, my little brother has got engaged to his girlfriend, this is great news for their little family!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I'm happy to read your work list honey. As a fellow teach, it does mean something to me and is a good indicator of whether I'm the only nutter flogging my guts out over the holidays or not! Well back at home, my mum and I both cried when I left - I miss her so much! (Who would guess I am actually almost 30!) Anyway, it was so lovely when I got back that I didn't do any of my to do list, but potted on some courgettes, sowed some flower seeds, tidied the shed and weeded the garden - anything outside basically! OH got into the swing of things and put up the patio furniture, built my mini greenhouse, and cut the grass, so its all looking spic and span outside at the moment!
Our opposite neighbours who are getting divorced and have both moved out have offered us LOADS of free furniture, all really good quality. We have decided to take the sofa, some shelves and a set of lamps, which will come in useful for when we redecorate the living room at some point! The hardest thing will be getting OH to part with the 10 year old faded sofa we currently have - he loves it!
I have also had a stab at making yogurt in my yogurt maker from free cycle - fingers crossed!
So my to do list looks like this -
- contact LEA and find out about 1 maternity form for my two jobs with them.
- filing 1/2 done
- tidy away as much baby stuff as possible
- list items on ebay
- sort out Christmas presents bought/Christmas presents needed and adjust budget
- check credit score, contact bank about any problems with this and any interest charged when they failed to set up direct debit
- check old isa rates and move if necessary
- claim back soup ladel from courtyard management fund (Don't care if they think I'm crazy!)
During next week
- collect order from pharmacy
- renew library books.
- post/relist ebay items
At some point!
- print off loads of tutoring resources
- collect card to use for card making
- stain shed and patio furniture15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I always worked in the hols when i was at work too. As do all of my teacher friends still. It is really hard to do any other unless you are super organised i think. I remember one summer a couple of years in me and my head of department did 2 weeks in school and then i did another 7 days at home preparing resources for the KS3 national strategy. I think that probably helped me make my decision to leave when i realised that i couldn't keep that up. Hard isn't it though to not play catch up.
Earthgirl - i don't know how you do it. The gardening seems to be coming along well. Hopefully lots of free veggies soon to help your progress. And well done on the free furniture. Our settee was my mums before it was ours, and must be around 12 years old now. It would look better but it is cream (with 2 boys and 2 cats ) and the cats have scratched it to death and also sit on the backs of the cushions so they are all a deformed shape. I refuse to buy new till the kids are older and we no longer have cats though as they would only do the same to a new one and i would cry.0 -
I think she's an alien! Thats how she is so organised!!
I am getting better at working less during the holidays. Technically I've not done any school work yet...it's all been assignment work for my MA. I'm about to start 3/4 days of intensive work though....then I'm going to spend the weekend vegging out with a spot of climbing!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

I used to be terrible. I'd always leave most of it to the last minute and then get even more stressed. Then all your R and R time is spent thinking about it too. Good plan to clear it before the weekend.
I don't think she is an alien, just extremely competent and focussed. I don't knopw how she does it but i wish i could bottle it and market it to all my teacher friends. They would all want it.0 -
Yeah but they'd have to get in the cue behind me!!! I still think she's an alien though!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Dare I say I don't work in the holidays either? I treat the half terms as flexi-time owed by the school, Cmas and Easter hols as my annual entitlement and the 6 week hols as my perk, teaching equivalent of a company car or something like that. In an ideal world I probably should do more in the hols cos I feel like I'm constantly playing catch up but I think that's part of teaching reallyUpdating soon...0
