  • The staff who man the phones are being told to reassure callers, but they aren't necessarily in the know. When I spoke to KE on Monday they assured me the bank was solvent and in no danger of collapsing like Icesave as KE is a British subsidiary. That didn't prove accurate. Same goes for ING staff - they will tell callers what they want to hear.

Again, I note that nobody on this thread has received their money yet. I will believe everything is fixed when I start seeing payments come through.

But there are 300,000 savings account
  •

I Closed my account on Wednesday morning around 9 AM
and sent the balance by chaps to my linked account. I was told it would be sent that day or maybe the next.

I then lost access to the internet banking and still no sign of the balance arriving in my linked account / I am starting to become quite anxious as no information & no answer on the telephone. Balance was around 24K.

if they've started processing the backlog, we should see payments coming through to people on this forum. It will be interesting to see which payments come through first. My guess is that CHAPS withdrawals made after 8 October will start showing up first.

Can I suggest that anyone posting news that their money has arrived also details when the withdrawal was made and whether it was done by BACS or CHAPS.
  • Hi everyone I too transferred tues night so shows as wed transaction over 20k, No sign in nominated ac/ as yet but all money will still be in holding account and I think its just been released thats why ing prepared to go on tv:-) thanks to all on site its great to have support.

i have a savings account instant access in kaupthing edge on tuesday i transfered 30k to llyods tsb, but still not received it. my brother also transfered his 30k on tuesdat morning HIS ARRIVED ON THURSDAY!! this is the only transaction i know of being successfull:T

If he did it by CHAPS early Tuesday then its possible, it does seem like there was a cut-off time sometime that day. BACS seems to be different with an earlier cut-off, I guess that in reality the sending bank hold onto the money for 2-3 days working after the request is made (to earn interest), so unless they were actioned last week, it seems they've got held up too.

  • i agreee with northern5 we should all stop calling and let them get on with their jobs and process our payments double time

I really don't think the call centre staff are the ones processing CHAPS & BACS transfers in between answering calls in such a big operation, do you?
  • KE are giving out some seriously conflicting info at the moment as I read through this forum. The cynic in me says why do they need to bother anyhow - its not like they have any further career prospects within KE anyhow (of course ING is an altogether different issue)!

I have spent an lengthy amount of time on the phone to KE chasing my CHAPS payment made at 9:30am Tuesday. It has still not arrived at my receiving bank (cahoot). I have spoken with two contact centre managers and have been told that 1. its all being held in a suspense account and I will get it ....eventually..., and 2. Its all going through and the whole CHAPS system is being slowed by the volume of transfers taking place so it will arrive shortly, its just a delay.

There is a statement on the FCSC website (http://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/) that about 3,000 customers accounts will not be transferred to ING and they will need to make a claim.

However on a positive note I would just like to put on record the fact that I think to date the relevant government departments are doing an o.k. job in very difficult and challenging circumstances. That's not to say I am going to sit back and wait for things to happen but fair comment where its due (please don't bombard me with abuse, its just my humble opinion).

Definitely something coming up on Ch 4 lunchtime news, just heard about how Icelandic savers are worried about how their savings "disappeared" while they were trying to salvage them. Will keep watching

This has been covered several times already (yup I know its a long thread!), the 3000 accounts are ones that are non internet accounts, basically everyone that had a KE account and applied / managed it online has been transferred.
