Remember if you miss the BBC programmes you can watch again at any time from their website, and I think C4 do a similar thing.

How much of your money is missing via KE BACS or CHAPS? Don't forget to vote in the poll http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=14864397

A big thank you for your time and effort in getting this problem out in the open for all of us, you are sure to be a star.

There is no point being angry at this stage anyway, all you needed to achieve was to higlight our problem and keep things moving in the right direction for us, you will have achived that without doubt, so once again, a big thank you.:T :T :T
  • I suspect that the majority of the posters here made transactions prior to the ING takeover.

This is my fear also, that transactions made before the 8th are going to have to go through the FSCS compensation scheme.....

Can others please bump and vote on the poll, reporting the details to the people who are contacting the media, as I'm going to be with classes now until late afternoon.
  • I made my withdrawal aroun 9 a.m. on Monday 6th october. My understanding is that transactions that took place before 8 October were under Kaupthing's control, while transactions after 8 October were under ING's control. I don't know what this means in practical terms, but my guess is that withdrawals before 8 October are more problematic.

ALL transactions will be honoured by ING

    Charles,
Is this your assumption or is it an impression that you were given by the ING press guy?
    THx,

  • I just spoke to customer services at ING at he said that ALL transactions, including ones before 8th October are being processed and it will be a matter of days and not weeks before these transactions go through.

    I'm confused.
Some are saying that any transfers will go back to KE and others are saying that they will be processed in the next few days!

Firstly, as I've said before this forum has been a Godsend, so thanks a million for everyone who has helped reassure me and the hundreds of others of poor souls who have had the worst week of their life (so far) worried to their wits end that their life savings had evaporated. Thanks very much.

My user name says it all. Mr Darling I cannot say how deeply grateful I am to you and your team for your swift acction. It's becoming clearer to me that the KE accounts were frozen last weekend when you realised that the game was up for KE and ICESAVE. Your actions in swiftly negotiating a transfer to ING has not only saved my money (way above 50K) and that of thousands of others. By avoiding the use of the compensation scheme you have saved the taxpayer millions too. I for one will never forget this act. I owe you a debt of gratitude and in return I am giving £1,000 of my savings (whenever I do eventually get them) to one of the charities hit by this disaster. THANK YOU Mr DARLING a million times over.

I am not party political but I could not see Cameron doing what Brown and Co has done for us. I and my family are just ordinary middle class Joes who have saved all their life and are getting ready for retirement. I can't help but think that given a choice between protecting the people and the Banks Mr Cameron would be much more inclined to help out his banking buddies.
Fully endorse these sentiments and will be making the same charity contribution when the money is returned. Had exactly the same feelings about Cameron, we would have been left to sink. Have to assume that the government put these plans together a while ago, they couldn't do it overnight. One nightmare scenario would have been if Iceland had agreed to pay the first £16,000, then a lot of people would have really lost out big time.
Still we have all been saved and need to just wait for now.
