Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

The web page has been updated but you need to be sharp to spot it.
"When Kaupthing Edge encountered difficulties, withdrawals were not able to be completed. This is now being resolved and we are in the process of clearing the backlog of pending transactions. ING Direct will honour all withdrawals as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this period"
Hope this makes some people feel better0 -
MadBill we are the same.
......
Could your mortgage provider increase your borrowings? Could things be delayed slightly? these are questions I have been thinking through too for our similar situation.
...
We live in the country, and the cash is owed to a local builder. Been on the 'phone and for the moment, we've struck a bargain - I've reassured him he'll get his cash, but in the meantime I'll give him the equivalent of lost interest in the form of bartered goods - potatoes - cabbage - half a pig - home made bread -pheasant shooting season - he seems happy with that !!!!!!!!!!
I feel happier now - clearly (and I'm just talking in general - not about ING in particular) banks and other financial institutions have no sense of guilt in their dealings with our money. Personally, if / when I have a debt, I make every effort to repay it on time.
As my old man once said "Neither a borrower nor a lender be!" (don't know the original source of the quote)The 'Mad' refers to my state of mind, not my degree of anger.... (still crazy after all these years)0 -

Still waiting for mine don't for get to sign this petition want our money back.
bytie bit,
Like you, I'm waiting for money too (£35k+) but starting another pointless bandwagon in the form of this petition (I assume you started it as there's only one signature) is a waste of time and further fuelling the panic.
Also, I don't like your petition title "All the people hate Iceland" - I've never been there but I certainly don't hate Iceland or its people, and I'm sure few who sign your petition hate Iceland either. Let's not get too partisan about this
Sit tight and wait a few more days.0 -
Some positives:
1. Valleycommando has given us an inside view as to what is going on and that's very reassuring. (Thanks Valleycommando for doing that.)
2. However long it takes to resolve, in ING, we are dealing with a reputable and solvent company.
3. I don't think anyone here seriously believes they have lost their money - the concerns are when and where our tranfers will show up and we just need to give ING some time to understand the problem and come up with the best solution to resolve it.
4. Although these payments not appearing is worrying and in some cases causing some hardship, in the context of other problems in the financial markets at the moment, I don't think it ranks as a big problem.
I remain very optimistic that these transfers will get sorted out soon.CHAPS 7/10 RECEIVED 20/10 NAT WEST0 -

I did a CHAPS transfer wednesday evening for £30k, Kaupthing account showing its gone but nothing in my nominated account yet. Add me to the list . I also did a CHAPS from ICICI at the same time which worked perfectly.

Hadn't seen statement from CEO ING Direct before I posted above but pleased to find my optimism was justified.

Wow this is a long thread - can some one just give me a yes or no as to if I will get this:
I BACSed out of Icesave on Sunday evening (5th Oct).
I understand it looks like KE transfers are a maybe for today - here's hoping.
I imaging a large % of customers from the icsland banks opened their accounts after reading MSE - I know I did. And following martins advice I put money into both to spread the risk!
Still it could be worse I have no immediate need for the money.0 -
Could someone give me a rough number of people on this forum who are due money? I think that the last figure was about 170, and if I guess at an average owing of £20k (is that fair?), would mean about £3.5 million owed to MSE contributors alone.
This is to give one of our news interviewees some numbers to quote.
Thanks.0
