  • Dear all,

I have been writing to my MP, Steve Pound (latest letters attached below). This is very easy to do online via the www.writetothem.com. If everybody could write a similar letter to their MP it might help? It takes seconds to locate your MP on this site and you are welcome to paste / amend my letter if you are short of time.

    Dear Mr Pound,

ING did indeed make the promise that we would all have our funds by close of business Friday. This was just the latest of many promises. There was a similar promise the Friday before when payments started to come through but stopped after 1 day.

Many customers waiting for BACS payments (those which normally take 2-3 days) did indeed receive their money on Friday 17th October. Nearly all customers waiting for CHAPS payments (which should have been instant and were requested up to 2 weeks ago in some cases, on 7th October in my case) did not arrive.

On contacting ING we have all been told that they have no information to offer. Some customers have received letters saying that they are one of 5% of customers who didn't receive their money and they will hear from ING in due course about when they can expect to receive their money. From the online forums, where there are still hundreds of people posting similar stories to mine, it appears that the 5% figure is grossly under-exagerrated.

Over the weekend the ING stance was that CHAPS payments had all been posted on Friday evening and would without doubt be in receiving banks by Monday morning. Now that the same customers are complaining that no money has arrived the company line is literally that they have no information to offer at this stage and cannot guarantee when we will receive our funds.

My understanding is that ING received £2.5billion of FSCS funds to bail out Kaupthing Edge customers. Whilst some have received the moneys requested, there are many many more like myself who have tens of thousands lost in the ether. For my part, I have nearly £35k, my life savings, unaccountable in the ING system.

Please, please can you look into this for me and the hundreds, if not thousands in my situation. Another member of the online forum has started collecting names, email addresses and amounts missing. Last time I enquired, she had about 150 names with a total of nearly £4 million missing funds. We all need your help!

I look forward to your earliest reply.

    Yours Sincerely

    POUND, Steve to me

Sorry if I appeared confused during our recent correspondence - I am assured that your funds will be in the destination account by close of business on Friday and that interest payments have been continuous.

I do hope that this proves to be the case.

    Best wishes,

Just rang and asked to speak to James Hearne customer services manager at ING was told he was not taking calls and was not looking at individual accounts.
But was told CHAPS are in the 5% which will take longer to process.
I gave Steve all the details and he said he will pass them on to James not sure where that was going!!!!
    CHAPS 8th received 20th into HSBC A/C
BACS on the 17th and 20th received 22nd into HSBC A/C
    CHAPS fee refunded 29/10
I can survive any crisis - I have kids!!
  • I have just come back from a 2 week holiday in Cyprus before I went on the 5th oct this was all kicking off. I had £28000 in Kaupthing and an hour before going on holiday I made the decision to tf £25000 by chaps which went through fine. But why o why didn't I just do the whole lot as on the 9th oct in an internet cafe in cyprus I tf the remaining £3000 by chaps and it is still not in my linked account. I know its not a lot compared to what some of you have in limbo but I could kick myself.

Just off phone to KE, they are sticking with the story that if you didn''t get an email yesterday, you will be getting your money by close of business today, hmm I'll wait until end of day, no longer...
I did point out that if the number of 160,000 UK KE customers was right, that 5% of customers would amount to 8000 customers getting emails, or telephone calls. I asked her why a database could not be set up if they already had this information at hand. She had been asked her manager for this information and would press again for that to be done.
COME ON MANAGERS AND ADMINISTRATORS AT KE - GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND START HELPING US- YOU DO HAVE OUR MONEY, AFTER ALL!!!
  • OK here we are £4,008,535 from 130 transfers (125 CHAPS) 2 of which I don't know the value.

If you're waiting on CHAPS and haven't PM or emailed me the amount, date and linked account. The more of us there are, the better

I'll try to contact working lunch with the info I've collated.

Just spoke to Nationwide about this.

I was told that if a CHAPS transfer had been in progress from late Friday it would have been processed by Nationwide before 6am this morning as theor first batch of CHAPS are done from 12 - 6 in the morning.

So looks like more BS from ING.

I phoned KE on Friday night and asked the person I was speaking to if I could have my transaction number from the withdrawal I made on the 7/10 PM (I can't seem to find my transaction number online using Safari on Mac). She asked for my postcode/name and gave me the number, so unless she made it up she must have accessed my account.
Sorry - I meant I understood hime that KE have the ability to see if payments we authorised would infact go through today.
