Phoned contact number on their update page 0845 848 0282. Called twice this morning and both times got through in less than 30 seconds!
I phoned second time just to check I got the same story and I did. Asked how payments were sent and was told same day value, although Dolly who I spoke too wasn't sure if these were CHAPS transfers or BACS transfers using the Faster Payments system. Either way was encouraged to get the same response that funds would be in my account today.
Told 5% category are tranactions initiated by telephone instruction or where there is some query such as duplicate requests and anyone in this category will be contacted individually.
Inclined to stay calm until close of play today.
They are contradicting themselves. I was told that I was one of the 5% this morning. I made a CHAPS transfer by Internet Site on 8th of Oct at 08:45 for £10,533.
I have just come off the phone after a 75 minute telephone conversation with ING.
Spoke to :
CSR (Customer Services Representitive)
Team Manager
Then 'James Hearne' Customer Services Manager @ ING
Called on the 'FREE' priority line - through in less than 30 seconds Tel 0800 3766400
When I asked for an official statement for this forum, he couldn't give one, but promised to look at individual cases. He has promised to call me back as soon as possible. I requested that be this morning !!!0 -
I just phoned customer services and the person I got didn't have a clue about the 5% of transaction requiring manual processing. I had to read the email and she/he (not sure which) was totally clueless and stuttered and stumbled before telling me the funds would be in my account by close of business today!! I told them that the email certainly didn't imply payment today and asked to speak to a supervisor. I hung on for 15 minutes before assuming I had been cut off. :-(BACS 11/10/08 TO RBS
RECEIVED MONEY 22/10/08 YAHOO
Thanks to all on forum for support over the past week.0 -
I'm waiting for someone 'senior' at the FSA to call me back...I am trying to escalate this debacle to the Director who oversees ING activities (think they come under the Major Retail Firms Division at the FSA). Will post update once they've called me.0

This is so frustrating. I was tempted to reply to the standard email that they sent out on Friday with a pathetic "Please give me back my money!"
I don't think that's too much to ask - for our money to be in our own accounts?
*Losing hope*0 -
Wouldn't it be better if the MD just owned up and issued a statement that they have lost the money and don't know when they will find it again? It is unfair to let the people in the call centres take all the flak.
The buck stops at the top - come on Mr JdW come clean, if you've made a mistake admit. We'll at least know where we stand then.
I'm pretty sure that's the fact, in the transition between KE, Ernst Young and ING they have lost it.
Don't tell me it doesn't happen, I know from my business it does sometimes during normal trading.0 -
Is anyone else not convinced by this 5% of transactions response? Taking this thread, for example, far more than 5% of people seem to not have their money back yet?0

The money I tried to transfer by BACs on the 7th October finally turned up in my linked account on Friday as promised! So don't worry I am sure if you are still waiting you should have your's back soon.
However, I still cannot access my money in the term deposit account despite requesting this to be transferred to my KE current account on the 7th too. I spoke to Kaupthing Edge yesterday who said that there was a big backlog of manual transactions, presumably because they have to calculate the interest manually.I spoke to some one from ING this morning and she said this should happen today or I will be contacted. I guess I will have to wait and see. They seem to be doing their best. I would be interested if anyone has been able to access their money from a deposit account since the 7th October.0 -
Spoke to Patrick - he wasn't a supervisor though, but he assured me that KE DO have the ability to look at our account details!
Back on the phone now to KE????
I phoned KE on Friday night and asked the person I was speaking to if I could have my transaction number from the withdrawal I made on the 7/10 PM (I can't seem to find my transaction number online using Safari on Mac). She asked for my postcode/name and gave me the number, so unless she made it up she must have accessed my account. No more offshore banking for me :rolleyes:0 -
Just come off th ephone from Kaupthing Edge.. still no cash waiting just under 2 weeks now.
Kaupthing Edge just have no information, they don't know anything, where in the queue you are when they will get completed. The Senior Team Leaders I have spoken to find out information about 30 inutes or less before it goes out of the KE website.
What a mess. Should be ashamed of this impotent service.
I am pursuing my complaint from KE and after thn via FSA and Financial OM.0 -
All,
Just spoke to Darren Creamer at the Treasury, got bounced to him when the questions got too difficult for the level 1 operative.
To summarise (para);
" as per the chancellor's statement the Treasury will not allow any individual depositor to lose money"
I took him through the whole sorry CHAPS story and he promised to elevate this issue, he is receiving a number of calls on this today.
Ultimately the buck stops with the treasury, suggest you get on the phones and make oursleves heard.
Cheers,
K.0
