Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

All our outstanding CHAPS transfers are from the 8th (the day KE went bust)
No. My outstanding CHAPS transfer is from the 9th. I made the request after ING took over. I'd read online about money vanishing after CHAPS transfers from KE, so I only requested a transfer because I was now dealing with ING, not KE.
I'm repeating this because I think people are panicking unnecessarily. CHAPS transactions are pending from both before and after the takeover, so the fact that they've not come through has nothing to do with ING not having the money or not having liability. As I said last night, I think they simply overestimated how quickly they could do things, something I can fully empathise with having worked in the service industry.CHAPS to Natwest: sent 9/10, RECEIVED 22/10 at 16.350 -
very interesting theory Dag. i understand it's a guess - but it sounds feasible to me. let me just get this clear - are you saying because in your view the CHAPs transfers may appear sooner than the BACs (looking like they've already been made on the balance sheet) and that the balance ING received would be lower than is really the case... and it would only be the BACs they see as still outstanding (which they've pretty much dealt with?)
You'd think that the outstanding amount (to us) would be comparatively small. The incentive/payoff for ING agreeing to takeover KE would have been generous/attractive enough to take into account "contingencies."
Really though, others have received their transfers on the dates we have people missing theirs. Surely our 100 on the database weren't the only CHAPS out of the 26,000 transactions over those days...?0 -
In the 94(now) there are 5 BACS (from 3 people) 4 on 7th and 1 on the 11th (October I assumed)
CHAPS - 3 with no date, 2 on the 6th, 34 on the 7th, 42 on the 8th, 8 on the 9th
DO NOT PANIC: we will get our money, it HASNOT gone to the administrators of KSF, it can't - they are separate legal entities. Before I changed careers (admittedly with great relief) I worked in audit and as an insolvency administrator so I'm as sure as I can be that this is true
Now £3,166,533 (and 3 with no value sent)
Please read back. Everyone is irritated we don't have our money and I'm putting together a database. PM me or email to lovelife42@hotmail.co.uk with amount, date and linked back. The more info that is collated, the stronger our positon if it needs to be.CHAPS 8th Oct Rec'd 20th Lloyds TSB0 -

Bigg. If you want a bit more text emphasing the hopeless nature of Ing's helplines, this might be useful:Several contributors on the "moneysavingexpert" forum have made telephone calls to Ing's helplines over the past few days trying to obtain clarification of when the overdue payments will be made, but all they've received is further promises that have turned out to be wrong in many cases. It seems that Ing have grosly under-resourced their payments facilities following the take-over of K-E accounts, and have provided inadequate briefing to their helpline staff who have merely engage in offering platitudes to many worried customers. It is a fact, for example, that Ing helpline staff do not have access to any customer details relating to K-E deposits. In reality they have no idea when requested transfers will be made, but neverthless they have passed on to customers what has turned out to be misleading information, which has simply fuelled further concern.
Thank you
I have cut and pasted your paragraph. In light of Dag’s excellent post, I will hold back till Monday before I send any more emails. There is a lot to digest, I’ve had a long day, still haven’t had my tea yet and the Jack Daniels is looking very inviting. So I’ll sleep on it.
What we need from ING first thing Monday morning is acknowledgement of our failed CHAPS transfers. If not, then the muck hits the fan.0 -
