I don't think ING is as safe as anywhere else.
Firstly it's protection is based on the passport scheme, which will never look after foreign savers first (look at Iceland). UK savers will always be favoured by UK schemes.
And although a good brand and large safeish company, it's not as safe as companies like Lloyds or HSBC.
ING also have a history of offering good accounts to lure savers, then dropping rates fast, which is why they are rarely listed on the best buy tables.
For me foreign saving is over, I've no interest in ING whatsoever.0 -

Once an electronic transfer has been initiated you can not stop this, apart from a letter instructing this. Transfers were initiated when KE UK were solvent and the contract you initiated, i.e. the transfer lies with them. Then ING inhereited the retail savings arm of KE UK and have to adhere to what the client origionally requested.
It is worrying but your money is safe, but not seeing those figures in your KE or Bank account send shivers through your body.0
