Everyone worried about their money, just spare a thought for Seve Ballesteros, I bet he’d swap with any one of us.

You're right, money certainly isn't everything.

But at this rate if any of us do get struck down by the big C we won't have the cash to buy the lifesaving drugs that the NHS refuse to pay for......

(Sorry, feeling a bit "glass half empty" today - a bit like my bank account).

They may indeed have taken on a nightmare as you say but clear, concise and accurate messages and updates would have gone a long way to alleviate peoples concerns about where their money is, regardless of whether they had a little or a lot saved.

In my long working experience, the PR department of any organisation, financial or otherwise, was always the weakest link. It's an unreliable sideshow to the main event ... underpaid hard working people applying themselves to get the job done. It's time to applaud those who ARE getting the job done in the most difficult circumstances.

Don't think any of us would mind if the money was showing in one account or the other, it's just the fact it's missing is the issue.

    Page 200 woohoo - do I win a prize? Let's celebrate. No CHAPS from 7-10 though :(
  • It is now after close of business. However if ING staff are working beyond 5.00, the money will be sent. It is unlikely to show up in accounts until Monday, but who knows! It might not be a bad idea to check just once more before bedtime, and once again tomorrow, just in case the banks IT system is able to handle any after hours payments.

I spoke to a guy this afternoon who said payments can arrive til half 6.

How true that is I dont know.

PS: By the way my payment was Bacs on 7/10 in the evening - showing 8/10 on statement - but I received it CHAPS at about 3 pm

isnt the saving section of B&B owned by a spanish bank, just checking.
I too dont know where to put my money:confused:

Si, Banco Santander, gran banco de Espana (perdon, hablemos ingles aqui) - I've been looking into this as well 'cos I've just opened an Alliance & Leicester a/c which is also now owned by Santander. What *is* interesting is that Spanish banks seem to have a much more restrictive method of "loan coverage" (debt insurance) than our banks. They (apparently) dont have the same exposure to risky CDS linked to US (and indeed UK) sub-prime or so called "toxic" loans. That's just my opinion, it's NOT ADVICE !!!!! But, given that a number of Spanish institutions have, over the last couple of years, had sufficient funding to invest, if indeed not actually take over various UK companies (and banks), I wouldn't worry (yet)

Yep - page 200 !!!! Martin - please keep the forum running !!!!!!!!!!
The 'Mad' refers to my state of mind, not my degree of anger.... (still crazy after all these years)

It's a matter of whether staff are staying on in the CHAPS departments of our banks, as they haave to be manually matched to name and account number.

Somebody somewhere did say that Halifax told them, they don't make transfers till after close of business. There's still hope yet.
