Guaranteed to cheer yourself up (I do it all the time):
Put your pants on back-to-front and dance around your garden singing along to some Motorhead. Your neighbours will love you for it. :j :T :rotfl:0 -
Early October, Icesave Bank melted away
Kaupthing Edge dived the very next day
But Gordon Brown, hearing of our plight
Moved our savings to ING by the end of the night
Since then empty promises from I N G
Friday - told to wait and see
So come through for us ING without delay
And pay us our savings back today
Well it looks like I might have to add a few lines more     :mad:0 -
According to Bloomberg ticker half an hour ago ING Direct will have to apply for recapitalisation! Guess we cleaned them out with all these payments going through!
Still waiting for 17K CHAPS 8/10 8.30am to enter my HSBC account!
Huh! This is interestingly serious (seriously interesting, as well). Looking wider than our own problems here, let's step back a bit and look at what the heck is going on. IceSave - ok - not FSCS guaranteed. That goes, then, tarred with the same brush, investors (I mean INVESTORS - who affect the SHARE price) withdraw from KE and its rating plunges. Savers (like you and I) get well spooked and the jitters take over and we remove our savings (even though they were FSCS covered), and the bank goes down (not just due to OUR relatively puny total cash saved there - more due to traders selling off KE shares and the comapny value tanking)
Now, the REAL money people (investment bankers and hedge funds), notice that ING suddenly have lots (GBP Billions) of new liquid assets due to the well published (and enforced) transfer of KE to ING and the share price RISES. What do they do? They start a run (not by taking CASH, but by selling stock) on the bank, and the share price FALLS.
WE ARE ALL AT THEIR MERCY - do not let them win. By damaging a bank by selling stock they have a clean conscience since "the savers are covered anyway by the Dutch Compensation Scheme". I'll say it again in another way, THEY DO NOT CARE. Banks to them are just another business to buy or sell shares in. To us, they are the access to our savings (REAL MONEY).
Don't misunderstand me, not saying ANYTHING at all bad about ING, I'm talking about the (rearrange the following word into the appropriate form) carp that goes on OUTWITH OUR CONTROL. Pure speculation by spiv merchants.
MESSAGE - INVESTMENT BANKERS - DO NOT TAKE ANOTHER BANK DOWN
Appreciate this is probably not the best thread for these thoughts, but it IS a forum, a thread, a thread of consciousness, of inter-related thoughts and words, and that's my justification. The 'Mad' refers to my state of mind, not my degree of anger.... (still crazy after all these years)0 -

as for transferring out the remaining money from the now ing accounts, wait till normal service s resumed.....that would be the best course, but you could try phoning them on monday and see what they say....if they say money can be moved out, do it.....after all, all throughout the past week, people have reported here that they were able to pay small sums into their KE accounts!
Just phoned KE asked if they think it will be ok. to transfer some (code for all rest) of my money next week and was told it should be but worth a call first, and then do it over net as would be quicker.0 -

To all the people in this thread who are now knocking ING, would you please get a grip on the real world?
ING were, at very short notice, saddled with the mayhem that resulted from the Icelandic collapse. Even in the best of worlds, taking over another company's records and making sense of them is an uphill task ... but ING are trying to do this in the worst of all possible worlds.
I take my hat off to them for having achieved so much in such a short time span.
I do understand that those who are still awaiting their cash are frustrated, but that is no excuse for taking it out on a company who has inherited a nightmare.
Cut them some slack people. And no, I have no vested interests in ING ... I'm just very appreciative of a company that is doing their very best in a very difficult situation.
