    Mr Darling & Mr Brown - thank you so much for standing up for us. For doing what was right and taking the actions that you did. You are both honorable hard working public servants. Others might say that they have only done what they should have but I say they did it - my issue is what others in the FSA and the Ombudsman Office have NOT done. They should be on the ball and keeping us informed..

    I agree .. they are looking after us, but then if they didn't there would be riots! I bet they must be knackered working the hours they have this week

    for taking a uk owned and regulated bank and overnight transferring it to Dutch regulatory bodies and Dutch ownership?

    Although I made this comment in a flippant manner, it began to resonate with me that although I have a substantial amount of money missing, even if it's lost for ever, I'm still better off than the guy selling the Big Issue at the local shopping centre, probably better off than more than 90% of people in Africa.

    In other words, most of us are still very fortunate in life, and we'll survive.

    Let's hope that those who had most of their life savings in Icelandic financial situations get a positive resolution. The rest of us who didn't have all the eggs in the same basket are the lucky ones at present.

    I'll still sue them if they don't cough up, though.........;)

    I can confirm that the CHAPS Central System is not experiencing any delays in processing payments, neither have there been in the past. If customers are experiencing delays then they should escalate this to their bankers as it is through their systems that the payments are made. I regret that you have been misinformed, and can assure you that there is no 'backlog' within the CHAPS Central System.

    CHAPS tranfers out of kaupthing edge accounts? That would reduce panic as
    the money just seems to have disappeared. We are told it is because there is
    a backlog at CHAPS; if that is true a confirmation would greatly help.

    Also please tell Ing to put the info on the kaupthing edge website!

  • Incredible, all it would take is an announcement on the KE website to explain what’s happening with the transfers
  • £18k transferred via BACS Monday 10th October from KE account. No sign of funds in linked account. Zero balance in KE account. This is still around the 'three working days' timescale. But given other posters experience of BACS and CHAPS I'm not very confident of seeing the funds anytime soon.

    I've just logged on to the KE website to see my money has left the account, no sign of it in my current account though.

    My CHAPS instruction executed 11.35am on 7th Oct. Like all others, nothing arrived and my bank see nothing imminent.

    Yep, that's what I call looking after us. Like they did with Equitable!
