Oh no! I was hoping maybe Barclays would post CHAPS after 2 p.m.Anyone else from Barclays still waiting for CHAPS?
    BARCLAYS - I'm still waiting!!! isn't that a line from a song ?????

    - I am sooooooooo tired I can hardly type, been 10 days of hell so far and I'm off to docs for some sleeping tablets at 5 - seriously - just can't go through another weekend of not knowing and biting my tongue - I haven't yet uttered the words to my husband "I told you we should have moved the money weeks ago" - what's the point in any more angst - this waiting is terrible and only thing keeping me going is this thread.

Am so pleased for everyone that has got their money - what a relief for you all.

British savers face an anxious wait over the weekend as the electronic payments system, C.H.A.P.S, used by banks to transfer funds, collapsed at 2pm GMT today under the pressure of an enormous backlog of inter-bank transactions.

It is thought the vast majority of transactions originated at Icelandic bank, Kaputhing, who were declared bankrupt earlier this week and whose UK arm was subsequently acquired by the Dutch instituition, ING.

A large number of Kaupthing's estimted 200,000 British-based savers rushed to move money out of their savings accounts when it became apparent that Iceland was facing insurmountable financial difficulties.

In many cases, savers' Kaupthing accounts showed that funds had been transferred, but did not subsequently arrive in destination accounts within 3-4 business days.

A spokesman from ING refused to comment even though the company had earlier issued a statment guaranteeing that all outstanding payments would be cleared by Friday.

  • All,
Just an FYI for HSBC people.....HSBC CHAPS cut off is 15:58 daily so if it isn't in your account by then you will not see it until Monday even if ING send it.

Did my CHAPS at 13:35 on 7-Oct and still no cash........

    Thx,
    K.

    Sorry....
...call me a bit cynical, but I am starting to smell a rather large rat here...!

Are we seriously saying that the ING/KE team have been that "snowed under" for the last 7-10 days not to process peoples' transfers, but are now co-ordinated enough to transfer everything TODAY...all at the same time.

Not ONE person here has received anything or had information from their bank that there is monies inbound to the account.

Now - I hope I'm wrong about this, as I'm waiting on £100k myself, but I think today will come and go with only an update on the KE website saying that there have been some "problems with the payments". We will be back to square one next week.

Just think about how much money is "missing" from people, and how much ING are likely to make dragging this out for as long as possible....

What really gets me annoyed is being told something, and then finding out it's a work of fiction.

I sincerely hope I will come back to the thread tonight and eat my words.

I can understand everyone’s frustration but ING have had a monumental task to perform. Until they agreed to take KE over we would have had a 3-month wait with the FSCS.

They have given us a timescale. Lets see how it pans out before we start protesting.
