someone or something is going to come along and screw you, and when you have been knocked off your perch you will think 'why me?'. I just wish I was there to see it.

    Delightful.

A liar, a fraudster, not particularly switched-on - and now vindictive to boot.

If "looking after our own" means looking after scum like that, then you can keep it......
Oh come on, don't be silly.

I think this is a very good point brought forward by TotallyBroke School's do not teach Basic life skills to Students anymore, They should be taught how to budget, wash clothes, cook healthy affordable meals and general DIY,

My school taught us all about money, interest rates, credit cards, mortgages, pensions, etc.
Schools also need to teach grammar, though, such as the correct use of the apostrophe....

As for washing clothes, that's hardly a school thing, surely?

For example would you tell a brand new insurance company that you had a crash five years ago when you knew that it would bump up your insurance quote by £200. Personally, and I may be alone on this, but I think quite a few people would miss this information out and save themselves £200 especially in these times.

Sorry, but don't apply your own fraudulent standards to the rest of us, please.

I do tell the truth for insurance. For 2 reasons. Firstly, ethical, and secondly, practical.

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. Does that make me a bad person?.... NO!!!

    Makes you pretty dishonest.

Not applying any fraudulent standards to anyone. This has been completely taken out of context, the insurance was just an example, but please can you elabourate on your ethical and practical reasons? I'm very interested in the ethical reasons and why you put these before the practicle reasons.

Well I take that you are a recent school leaver then because it wasn't and still isnt being taught in schools at the moment in the county that I live in, Food tech is taught but not any thing to write home about its great to know how to make a scotch egg if ur having a party but what about a roast dinner or something along those lines, and yes it is usefull to know how to use a washing machine our parents aren't there to do it for the rest of our lives!!! BASIC LIFE SKILLS, if you were taught about Intrest rates and what not thats great, but not every school teaches it.

And if the comment about Grammar was directed at me that is uncalled for and maybe if everyone wants to niggle at one another should do it somewhere else!.

I think you might be right Robin Banks this post is getting ridiculous, its like a site for Cyber bullying, not money saving tips!
  • I know I said I wouldn't read anymore but I couldnt resist when I saw that this arguement was still going on, as I haven't been online for a couple days now.

To be honest im rather flattered by all the attention this thread has got! 8000 views now :rotfl:

Firstly 'Single Sue' I actually thanked you for your advice and have said a few times now that I will take it on board. I have been on the 'Old Style' board looking at ways of making food stretch further and trying to cut down our £50 per week shopping bill. (£15 of which goes on formula milk, nappies, wet wipes)
I haven't dismissed any of the advice given but I can't be bothered to go into all my personal details as to why some of the advice isnt suitable. So can people (no not you single sue) please stop making assumptions that I am not prepared to help myself.
I actually sympathise with your situation and I have never slagged people like yourself off so please stop thinking this!

'Totally Broke/Skint' (who cares what your correct name is ) - I never actually recieved your email reply because you are on my ignore list - sorry, better luck next time! and actually I do not know 'MoneyMiser' but I will thank him/her for his responses.

For information to anyone interested (im sure they are not) my PM to 'totallyannoying' was not abusive I just told him/her that she is very bitter and out of order for insulting my baby! and taking things too far.

To be honest my sister did start this whole argument up again and kind of made things worse for me !! but her posts made me laugh, so who cares :D
And for the last time she IS my sister I have not lied about this. (oh here comes the nit picking quote referring to my original question!)
Infact I actually haven't lied once in this whole thread - how ironic that im probably one of the most honest people here!!!

Also someone on page 14 or 15 had the cheek to slag me off and then went on to defend druggies and said "we have all tried drugs at one point in our lives"
Oh so thats ok then but if you dare even think about exagerating the truth on a form you are total scum??

Now I could be here all day answering the comments which are untrue or wrong but I dont have the time or energy.

Im off to my local police station now to hand myself in and to confess to contemplating telling a lie :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:! I hope they lock me up and throw away the key, no actually the electric chair is more suitable for my 'crime' I think.

This has been quite entertaining but its going nowhere now so could some kind person please tell me how to delete or stop this thread?

    Thankyou and good day ;)
