New forum for Icelandic banks

There has of late been a tendency to repeat the same questions over and over again. There are dozens of threads on B & B, Kaupthing Edge and Icelandic banks. Before starting a new thread please use the search butoon on the green toolbar above to search on the topic, and chances are your question/query will have already been done to death, sorry if comes across as stroppy but I for one are getting a tad frustrated reading the same old same old. rant over.
Yeah but anyway, do my savings look big in this?0 -
I've found that questions will not get answered as often or as quickly when added to an old thread
What do you class as old? Same question asked on a thread for the 5th time that day?
It is noticeable that the forum has been swamped by many duplicate questions and the normal posts we see have been swamped and lost on occassion. Which is a shame for those posting and the regulars who are understandably getting bored with answering "is my £10,000 safe in HSBC" for the nth time that week.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Absolutely.
I rarely post new threads, because 80% of the information is already there to search and read, and wherever possible I point people to a similar thread.
I did post a new thread today about a LTSB account, but I bet it disappears unanswered because of all the other new threads "am I safe", "can I cross the road", "should I hide under the duvet" etc etc.0 -
I think there is a need for a locked (!) "Credit Crisis FAQ" to answer the standard questions:
Are my savings protected? What about the interest? What is passport exemption? etc
The more controversial ones might need to give the arguments for and against.0 -
Trouble is, getting people to read first, post later.
Most of the "are my savings safe" guides are available in the FAQ or on the Banking/Savings tab at the top, yet how many people read them?0 -
People don't even need to search the board, all they have to do is go on to page 2 or 3 probably and there'll be an existing thread there it's discussed that much.0

All internet forums tend to be like this unless they are heavily moderated. Then you either end up with ridiculous situations like BBC's Have Your Say, for example, where every post has to be vetted before releasing, with the result that many never see the light of day due to the backlog. Alternatively you get more moaning and sniping about the moderators than about the subject/s in hand.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

If I logged on to this forum and there wasn't at least 7 threads with Kaupthing Edge in the title, I'd imagine I was on the wrong site 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0
