It doesn't need a temporary forum. For example someone started a thread regarding Landsbanki being nationalised, great its an important topic, but then 2 other threads are started with the exact same information with the same government/company quotes. its unecessary

I wonder if its an issue that was created by this board. You only ever really saw mention of the Icelandic banks on this site and a few others. If MSE (or similar) had never existed, then I doubt many of the people with money in Icelandic banks would actually have done so.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

I've wondered about that too.
MSE Posters possibly victims of their own success? As the knee-jerk reactions start to kick in (no pun intended), the inevitable it's too good to be true moment has caught up with everyone.
You kind of have to wonder whether or not the situation of the herd of people swilling around from best rate to best rate and subsequent difficulties of these institutions has been a little aggravated by such forums, which have all the best intentions of the world of doing people a favour but can lead to destabilizing activity.0 -
Yes it is unnecessary, that is the point! People are behaving as they are behaving and for this forum that means startnig a new Icelandic thread every minute - it is getting worse :-(It doesn't need a temporary forum. It is hard to see anything else going on on this forum, it is just getting washed away.0 -
Unfortunately, if you add a sub board, like the ISAs one, most new posters ignore it and would post on the main one... just like they do about ISAs...
Better merging of threads and trying to encourage people to contribute to current ones would be best, but I can't offer a solution to how it can be achieved! Better moderation for sure.
This forum has gone mad today, I've been hounded and attacked this morning, for posting accurate information to counteract a poster spreading misinformation, I've had insults and all sorts over the past week from people with some sort of axe to grind - I'm just not going to bother with my advice and opinions any more. If people took responsibility for their actions, cut the hype and acted in a sane and responsible manner, I wonder where we'd be now?0 -
There seem to be a lot of threads related to Iceland etc...so I though I would create another :rotfl:
Would it be better to create an Iceland sub-forum?0 -
Why the need for a subforum when we have the savings one all to ourselves :P0
