New forum for Icelandic banks

There has of late been a tendency to repeat the same questions over and over again. There are dozens of threads on B & B, Kaupthing Edge and Icelandic banks. Before starting a new thread please use the search butoon on the green toolbar above to search on the topic, and chances are your question/query will have already been done to death, sorry if comes across as stroppy but I for one are getting a tad frustrated reading the same old same old. rant over.

Surely the news is changing by the hour, and not everyone is glued to this forum.
I understand your frustration, perhaps you should log-off for a couple of hours
Father, Husband, Jogger, Painter. Mostly at the same time, except the jogging and painting bit, it didnt work out.0 -
There needs to be a technical way of 'losing' threads (and quite a few posts for that matter) after a short space of time. Yes I know they disappear over the pages but I had in mind a filing system which amalgamates by subject/time. It won't happen of course because the 'categories' are made up by people themselves - there is no order in this chaos. But there must be a nice prize for the whizz kid that come up with the equivalent of a 'registry cleaner' for bulletin boards.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

sadabbott <-- thats one idiot whose causing problems. Created 3 threads which were utterly pointless saying blah blah blah and getting people to argue. All in the space of an hour.
Other than that I may leave the board for a while because its getting rediculous at the moment.0 -
A 'sandbox' which they can't leave until they have spent 3 months posting there maybe? (Only allowed to read the 'big boy' posts until then?)Exactly!! What about new members who join?? Questions get repeated all the time!!.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -

I think I have made my point. There are dozens of "Are my savings safe" and "FSCS guarantee" threads all olver the forum. Its not rocket science to search on the topic and do what most of us do and read, if their question hasn't been covered add it to that thread rather than start a new one, or am I stating the bleeding obviousLiquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0 -
Just had another thought.. Limit the number of 'new threads' a poster can create to 2 or 3 in a 24 hour period? There's much less harm in making repeated responses to the same thread (like I'm doing here!!) than in the proliferation if new ones. This would cure some of the problems of duplicate threads. I respond to threads much more than create new ones. Again. The ability to create a new thread (if it is not to be moderated) could also be restricted to people who have registered as users for over 3 months. That gives newbies plenty of chances to 'chat', respond and even ask new questions on a related thread without as much clutter as letting them start threads at will from the off.......under construction.... Couldn't agree more.
The forum has gone mad in the past few weeks - a real pity.
More active moderators to merge threads would be very useful, I'm sure some regulars would be happy to take on the task.
Milarky's suggestion is also a good one, several instants recently where a newbie has cross posted scaremongering, adverts or all sorts of generally unwanted material, by the time it's reported and removed, it's got a whole thread attached.0 -
Agreed we really do need an active moderator here in these times of "panic".0

I've found that questions will not get answered as often or as quickly when added to an old thread. I'm not sure if it's because not everyone will revisit an old thread, even when it's bumped, or whether the question just seems to get lost as the topic has been discussed and things move on.
It may well keep things tidier but it's not as effective as posting a new thread, imo.
I post a fair bit and have tried both ways and I'm afraid I'm going to have to admit to being one of those who annoy you.
