Karnam wrote:Here is my situation. I applied for one genuine code which was emailed to me and then saw the 'universal' codes on the mse forums on Wednesday night. I ordered most of my things Wednesday night at around midnight, before the codes were spread across other forums on Thursday afternoon. I let a few people know about this and yes they ordered things too. I attempted to do the MS thing but asking myself if I would buy the things if they were at full price, before I bought anything. I hope my info helps others, as you have all helped me!
on my first usual play.com account which I've had since 03
I ordered 10 things. 8/10 of these had a balance to pay but this was nominal and tiny ranging from 49p to 19.99. I used 9 'universal' codes and one unique code that I recieved myself. Half of these orders were posted today according to my email, however when logged into play.com it still says 'processing'. I'm not too worried about this as I figure the website simply needs to catch up, maybe its the xBox360 launch slowing things down. The money has yet to leave my bank account but the amount has been 'reserved' ie. play.com have applied to HSBC for the money, although it needs a few more days to go through. One of my 'processing' and not yet posted items is Martin's Money Diet book, which I'm concerned about as surely it wouldn't be in the 'processing' ie. dispatch stage before it's release date? Another of my 'processing' but not yet dispatched yet items is Risk - Star Wars Edition which is out of stock. Again this is processing but surely it wouldn't be processed until they had more stock in?
on my second brand new play.com account made to abuse this promotion
I made 5 orders on this account. 4/5 of these had a balance to pay but this was v v small as these were all books for uni, so the prices to pay ranged from 0 to 2.49. I used 5 universal codes on this account. According to my email 3/5 of these have been posted today, although when logged onto the play.com website they still say 'processing'. Again I'm not too worried as I figure the website just needs to be updated by the stock room people. I'm not sure if the money has left my account or not as my credit card can't be checked online (stupid halifax online banking!!)
How do you know whether play.com have reserved to take the amount out?0 -
I had one awaiting stock that is now processing.... on the main site though it is still out of stockI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Karnam, - Martins book isn't officially released till around 12th December anyway so it won't be posted till after then anyway. It is only Amazon I think that had some early releases - there are two processing stages in Play.com AFAIK - one is I think where they just automatically check the order (to update their stock amounts I think) this is probably what the book is doing0

but that is what concerns me... play.com don't process card details until the item is ready for dispatch, so why are they 'processing' my order for Martin's book when it's not out yet?? I think it might get cancelled.:A Boots Tart :A0 -

If you have online banking you can check your balance and usually companies will ‘earmark’ the amount to be taken out and your balance will be in deficit of this and you can work out who has taken what out due to the amount deducted from your current balance, although they haven’t fully taken the money out yet.0 -
monkeyjug wrote:Not really, my account clearly as says two deposits have been taken out both by PLAY for £4.99 each, one yesterday and one today.
Hi. I have been debited twice too for my item. I was about to email play about it, but when I checked out my other account with the same bank, I found that something on that account had been debited twice too (once on the 1st and once on the 2nd). I have now written to the bank about it. If the amount you have been charged is correct, but you have been charged twice, maybe it is a banking error rather than play.0 -
I had a high value order and a low one. Items are DVDs that would definately be in stock and both still say processing, and I ordered 1 minute after codes were posted without any response! I don't think there is any rhyme to it, but really, I want the items but would have paid full price anyway, so not too bothered what they do.
As for the original thread - In my opinion the post was against board rules because it had codes without any source. The codes were (supposed) to be unique. Therefore, it quite rightly got pulled. And of course, as this post doesnt have codes in it it can also quit rightly stay here (or even on the vent boards?)0
