Lunch time here so I'm just having a quick nose around. I've just found 3 bags of un-opened flour with mould growing on the outside

Mind you I had to clean this up last night :

That table leg (and the chairs that go with the table were in the same condition) were my grandparents and I'm not happy about the condition they're getting into. Short of moving EVERYTHING into one half of the room though there doesn't seem to be much I can do. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this damp? Is it condensation (like the landlady says it is) or is it some other damp? Any opinions will be appreciated. I'm fed up of this now.

Well we had an adventure last night! Spent the night at first A&E then a ward in a different hospital 30mins away (cos they closed our local childrens ward where our A&E is). DS2 caught a torch with his head and got himself a nice concussion. Just washing the bedsheets now, he was very ill. This happened at 6.50pm (they were supposed to be watching a DVD in bed) and we got home about 1.30am. Except a nice bruise on his head you wouldnt know how ill he had been last night! Kids eh?

DS1 is still at Grans house where he got left at last night, WM load on with sicky bedsheets (probably need 2 washed), just got myself a coffee then going to nab oppertunity to do the kids room seeing as how DH is off (and playing Xbox 360 live  )

But first I will enjoy my coffee and browse the net.

((hugs for tia's DS)) awww poor little man, bless him, hope he's ok
g&b that's nice, I think it'd suit you lovely, I agree with soappie
pinkf well done to your DH
sarahs that's really pretty, you spoilt girl, my DP did as he was told this year, paid off some of his CC instead of buying me loads, I didn't need anything. For my 30th I got some fudge from a shop we went to in the lakes and a plaque which says 'behind every good man is a brilliant woman' which he knows is true!
pigpen www.summernaturals.co.uk has lists of uses for the natural products on there like borax, bicarb etc. You would have to wait for my list because it'll take me forever, I do however have something for most jobs, anything from cleaning moss off with soda crystals, awnings with soap flakes to getting rid of curry stains. Isn't there something on the OS cleaning index to do with this? Maybe it could be added to, I don't know whos in charge of that index, wasn't it the ever so busy michelle?
nicki one of the biggest causes can be condensation, can be made worse by drying indoors etc, probably why she said it but she should really get someone to have a look at it (IMO) a dehumidifier might help aswell as opening windows and airing the place as often as possible. This might be of help http://www.landlordzone.co.uk/pdf/Mould.pdf . We get it in the utility where the wall is single, it's converted out of the garage and not been done great so cause problems before we moved in, I do usually manage to keep it at bay now but there are stains from before we moved in, same goes for the leaky conservatory.

Lovely weather here, it's like the summer we missed! Swimming been & done, might go again this afternoon. I did some more on that brain training game & got my brain age to 31! I'm only 30 so chuffed with that.

Going to try to get the boys to play out, they were a while ago but have since come in for lunch and put DVDs on grrr, then washing up, tidy and vacuum in here, oh loo needs doing aswell. Might even clean a few windows.
One day I might be more organised...........

Nicki, we have a corner like that in our living room and I know its not condensation, its damp! But ours is no where near as bad as that! The wall is damp but has got no worse in 6 years so we have just let it alone (we're not soedning our lives here anyway). It's not causing mould on anything else either and we have lamenate flooring too. Everynow and again I clean it with some dienfectant and its fine.

I'd say get back on to your landlady and tell her that even if she thinks its condensation, it still needs sorted or you want her to replace your posetions. Sorry, I cant offer any more advice.

He is 3 and a half and was too spaced out to be frightened, untill they took his blood pressure and he made 'the face'. The one where he is panicked and just about to scream and run for mummy.

Right now he is fine, hasn't a care in the world!
