After forking out for the postage and for brown paper to send the item back in, I thought providing a tracking number would be the end of all this! Not so. I have just picked up an email from Paypal, sent this afternoon (when I was working and as such, unable to access emails) requesting that I fax them a copy of the proof of posting by the 9th of November.

I'm really angry that they expect me to provide information in two days, which both happen to be the weekend! Surely they should have given me at least two working days? Also, where do they expect me to get a fax machine from?

If I don't fax this through, I automatically lose my claim.

I have no idea why they require this! The seller pretty much told me she was going to try and make my life as difficult as possible, so perhaps she's told PayPal that the postie never delivered the item? Or someone else has intercepted it?

Whilst I think it's unreasonable they now want a copy of the proof of posting, what really winds me up is that they have given me Saturday and Sunday to fax them something. I'm often away for business (and I have been for a few days during the course of this dispute/claim) so I could easily have not picked the email up in time. I tried replying to their email to ask for an extension, but of course everything bounces back...

Starting to feel like this thread should be moved to the vent board... Thanks for reading and putting up with me. So frustrated!

"As you know, we're investigating a problem that you had with a recent transaction.

It's taking a little longer than we expected to reach a decision. We're
actively working on your case and will notify you on the next steps as soon
    as possible.

    Received the above today.

I originally paid on the 1st of October. This is ridiculous. Can I get my credit card company to do a chargeback? I sent the item back, I have proof of posting, I have faxed a copy of proof of posting to PayPal and still nothing. I don't understand why it's taking them so long to come to a decision. I have nothing; the buyer has everything. Except the money, which PayPal has.

It shouldn't take this long. Have you thought about ringing paypal asking them what the situation is?

Scroll down to the bottom of the paypal website (while logged in) and click on 'Contact Us' there you will be given a web pin and a telephone number.

Sellers that badly package really get my goat -I've not worked out yet if they are stupid, greedy or both.

Its not your problem that it arrived damaged or that she has a daughter or whatever - I bet she charged far more for postage than it cost (allowing for packaging, blah , blah).

Stick to your guns - get the refund via paypal and leave a neg feedback with explanation why to protect other buyers.

I've been so busy with work (getting in early, leaving late) that I've not had a chance to call anyone. Thanks for the suggestion though - I didn't realise I could call PayPal. I might do that later if I get desperate...

    Intriguingly, the new update is:

We are writing to let you know that we requested additional information
from the seller about this case.

We'll let you know if we require additional information from you.
What could they possibly need from her now?

PayPal are reviewing my case again and the new deadline for requesting information from me or the seller is 21 December.

Bearing in mind that last time PayPal requested information from me, they gave me two days over the weekend to send them a fax, and that if you don't respond to their deadlines, they close the case... there's not much I can do. I accept I've pretty much lost this battle and the idiots have won. I'm not prepared to spend Christmas checking my emails and hitting refresh. I had some really tragic news today and this doesn't seem important anymore.

Unfortunately, as I planned on leaving feedback after the dispute was resolved one way or another, I cannot warn people about this seller because the deadline for leaving feedback has passed. This is how long the dispute has been dragged on for. Naming and shaming would make me as lovely a person as the seller, so all I can say, is be vigilent with your purchasing and good luck avoiding her. Also, I would like to highlight how stressful and pointless PayPal disputes are for anyone who is considering filing one right now. I certainly would never go through this again.

Moving on, I want to buy something from a website that has a business seller PayPal account. Given that I am in the middle of a PayPal dispute... will I be okay to make further transactions with PayPal? Would be grateful for any advice.
