Brown rice should never be tough - it needs more water and longer cooking than white. It isn't flavourless either if you buy brown basmati (Asian shops) and steam rather than boil: I use a rice cooker but Delia's method is foolproof.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

When I cook rice at home it's usually the Basmati variety - been like that since childhood.
Growing up we preferred the subtle natural flavour that comes with it and found other white long grain, precook, american rice rather boring. So to make us not waste stuff and eat all our supper, mum bought basmati rice and we've never looked back.
...Anyway, I now buy and cook (boil & steam cook) white and brown basmati. I find there's still a disinct basmati flavour with an edge of nuttiness (maybe cos it has more natural oils) in the brown basmati (yummy). And I've found it really moreish.
I can eat a plateful on it's own, or sometimes just with a splash of Extra Virgin Olive Oil after it's just been cooked - LOVELY!
I do find you need more cooking time and a bit more water for the brown rice to be just as tender as cooking white rice. And a as long as not too much water is used, the rice (brown/white) retains some of it's natural flavours, so there's less stuff to add during/after.
Oh, plus you might try adding just a small pinch of salt before cooking to bring out more of its flavour. I have more tips, but I don't wanna rabbit on.

I would adjust your tastebuds to more high fibre tasty food like Beans Lentils etc. If your diet is too high in fat then you would not like Brown Rice but for me a decent Brown rice would be organic, taste nice but have reliable recipes to harness it's talents with.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

You can use cooked brown rice to make a lovely chicken salad using diced, cooked chicken, finely diced peppers, onion, cooked peas and sweetcorn kernels and chopped parsley. Fold in some mayonaise and season with salt and pepper.

I've merged this with our brown rice thread
I wouldn't personally cook rice in a slow cooker myself but would certainly make veg sauce or what ever you make to accompany it
