For some reason, fried frice(ie egg) always tastes better if you have let the rice go cold first, then cook it later.

I like to have it with roasted veg, any kind of veg you fancy drizzled in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and maybe some herbs. Then whack it on top of rice and maybe add some soy. Yum.
  • I had curry for tea and for some reason I really didn't fancy the rice, so now I have a portion of cooked brown rice leftover to use for lunch tomorrow. Brown rice can be quite tough and boring so I don't just want to add veg and dressing a la rice salad. I have a microwave in work to heat up meals but can't think of how to make it into something yummy!!

    Any ideas? :)

    Hi Funkymonkey849

Hmmm I have only ever made brown rice savoury as i was cooking it - by dry frying with cumin seeds and coriander, then adding stock to cook , and then mixing in toasted pumpkin seeds, and some peas and sweetcorn.

Er.... The question has been asked before -making brown rice more appetising & how can I jazz up brown rice - so you may get some suggestions in there

I'll add your thread to the first link later on

    Other threads which may help

    Anyone got any rice recipes?

    recipes for leftover rice please

    thanks

Sweat lots of veg, add a little stock and some feta or goats cheese and make stuffed peppers :D
  • Smoked ham/sausage/hotdog, chopped red pepper, peas, sweetcorn, bit of 5 spice seasoning, spring onion, fry rapidly, add chopped omlette, dinky shrimps, splash of soy = egg fried rice.
