Biggest price increase in my shop today was the cucumber.... Beginning of last year it was 68p for a whole one, that went up and varied from 70-80p, few weeks ago 92p, today £1.28!
Vast majority of my shop has price increases since my last shop 2 weeks ago. Wouldnt mind a couple of pence but these rises are huge.0 -
I have just noticed the price of Tesco toilet paper, i hadnt noticed before today as i always buy a bulk purchase when they do extra free packs.
The luxury soft was around £1.65 for a big part of last year and is now £1.94.
The 16 for the price of 12 a year ago was less than £4, 2 weeks ago it was £5.04 but today is £4.93. Thanks for the 11p Tesco.!
All this and you hear that the bottom has fallen out of the recycled paper market.
Last week Tesco Peas were up from £1.49 to £1.79, this week they have generously put then down to £1.67. Just what are they up to. They must really think we are stupid.0 -

Amoy coconut milk has gone up from 99p to £1.29 in the past couple of weeks0

And yet the price of frozen ready meals- at 5 for £4, has remained steady over the last few years, whilst "ingredients" for proper, home cooked food have sky rocketed.
I have a theory- I may well be wrong. I feel that the supermarkets presume that the people who eat better, are better educated and better off. Therefore they can put up the cost of fresh meat, veg & fruit, and the more affluent will continue to pay the price. Thereby subsidising the cost of ready meals & drawing in the less well heeled.
Some sweeping generalisations in who eats what, I know. But it's the most logical answer I can see.Only dead fish go with the flow...0 -
...we must all vote with out feet & go shopping blinkered ie just buy items that are on special offer & stock up! Forinstance Morrisons had 4 tins of Branston beans for 75p excellent offer so we bought 4 packs to keep us going. All supermarkets will do loss leaders to get you in the store the trick is to buy them & don't buy anything else!
For all the other shopping I find Wilkinson really good for washing detergent, food bags & toiletries although like all places you need to shop around.
For all other food stuff we shop at B&M bargains, home bargains or Poundland! Fantastic deals to be had in there. I can honestly say that I've paid less for shopping over the last year by simply shopping around! Great if you have these shops at your doorstep not so great if you don't!0 -
