I too can shop around. I buy pasta and curry sauces, crisps and chocolate from Home Bargains,. Fuit, veg and surprisingly dog treats and dry dog food from my local greengrocers. Beer and Wine from Aldi along with bread , mayonnaise and pasta/rice. It takes a bit more effort but I refuse to pay their prices for basics anymore, may lose a few clubcard points but hey ho I'd rather have the money in my pocket now!
Iceland peas £1 per Kg - sorry 2.2lb.0 -
 Just back from Tescos and the aforementioned cat food which had gone up from £3.85 to £5.00 is now £5.25! Why is it rising so much so quickly?0

Sainsburys for weekly shop at least 5% more than Tesco at my local stores. This is comparing like for like and not buying extras.
It's worth paying that extra 5% as:
Sainsbury's is less than a mile and a half from us and Tesco is a 15 mile round trip
And Sainsbury's customer service far outweighs Tesco's feeble effort and is, in my opinion, worth the extra premium....;)0 -

We try to eat healthily and always buy wholewheat products when possible. Tesco's Own Label breakfast cereal called Malted Wheaties(Shreddies in disguise) were 89p up to £1.34 back down to 99p and now back up to £1.34.
Wholegrain pasta has now doubled in price to over £1.30 per pack but the same size pack of organic pasta is still 89p. Sometimes you just have to stop and wonder !!0 -
Sorry haven't managed to read all the thread and this might have been posted already.:o Cat food was £2.99 (whiskas) for 6 BEFORE price hikes, went up to £3.06 DURING the price hikes and now that food is meant to be coming down in price it has gone UP to £3.37!!!!! This has made me really think and as I have 3 cats it is costing me a fortune. Didn't buy this brand last week and bought cheaper alternative, but guess what? Bl**dy damn fussy eaters won't touch it -so now I have 24 cans of Felix which they wont eat - argggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Is making me start to wonder about other prices in Tesco and after reading just some of the comments on here am seriously considering to think about shopping around and maybe knocking supermarkets on the head altogether. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
they will eat it if they are hungry enough.0

Not true- trust me- emcaited cats who will not eat even cheap catfood are more common then you think- I did work experience at a vets, my friend works with animals as a nurse, and infact my old cat used to stop eating and just starve and become very weak.
If they do decide to eat, its likely to be next doors fish, rumaging around in bins or eating your food. They decide they don't want to eat something and its harder to get them to eat it then if it were a worm pill!0 -
cats are opinionated feeders and stubborn... they also have a bizarre sense of humour, they can 'go off' their favourite food the day you buy 56 tins of it.
On the subject of T, I just read this article - probably been on MSE before but here's a link
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1106347/Tesco-faces-probe-claims-lured-shoppers-
MP complained that Tesco broke retail laws by running special offers but failing to meet the demand for stock.
(too scared to post it on that B & Q dishwasher thread as the hornets might start buzzing!!)
